I got referred to this question by someone asking about it HERE on the Law Enforcement & Police board.
If while house sitting I find a wooden spoon, should I report the parents to the police ?-
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080818065758AAx6roE
My answer-
| Quote: |
OMG do they have belts too, or rulers, and sticks, do they have sticks, those leave a nasty sting, but they might be crafty and hide them in the yard, on trees no less, you better go check.
Has anyone cheked out the website linked in her profile?-
THE SEXUAL DANGERS OF SPANKING CHILDREN

Source(s):
Growing up we owned several wooden spoons, but we never got spanked with them, that is what the belt was for. |

Hmm. When I was growing up I got spoons, belts, switches, flyswatters, hands, spatulas, and more used on me...and that was just mom. When dad got home, I got a belt or switch from him just to reiterate the rules and regs of the house. It didn't kill me, it made me a honest, respectful adult. That is the most assinine and moronic question I think I have ever read.

And that's why most kids are little pieces of $hit these days, and have begun growing up into piece of $hit adults.... |

| I was born in '79 and I think it was right around my age group that were the last to be corpally punished. I got spoons, belts, and open hand every now and then. Being the oldest of five, I can see the difference from myself to the youngest who just turned 21. |

I was spanked when i was a kid, and im 25 now and i can see the difference between kids who's butt has never felt the sting of a belt, paint stirrer (dad's favorite) or hand, and those who have.
These kids have NO idea of consequence of their actions. the whole "go sit in the corner BS dosent work and it just gives the kid time to think about how to do again and not get caught.
I remember when i got in trouble, i would dread the time Dad would get home and vividly remember how slow time went waiting for the punsihment. did I learn something from that? hell yes!
will i do coporal punishment with my future children? Most Definantly. Texas law says i can use any force excluding deadly force in punishment for the wellbeing of the child. (within reason) So belts, hands, paddles, WOODEN SPOONS, or anything else that I deem nessesary for protecting the well being of my own children and I will be Damned if any tree-hugging, long-haired, go-green-on-everything, Dr. Phil wannabe is going to tell me any different. I will care for MY children THANK-YOU-VERY-MUCH
-----------------
Here's another thing, why the heck was this old biddy going thru the home-owner's personal belongings? Yes she may have been house-sitting but still.. In my eyes thats just unaccecptable |

| Gee I remember when we even got paddled by the School Principal if we screwed up. We fondly called it the "Board of Education". Before I retired from LE, I would often go with Social Services on child abuse investagtions. After hearing the Social worker tell people they could not spank there kids as it was "assault" on several occasions I began carrying copies on MN statues that said you could "punish" your child and that punishment could be spankings. Needless to say it made for many heated conversations between myself and the Social worker! |

I don't really trust any kind of social worker, either child services, or the people I have to deal with a lot, patient case workers in hospitals. Just love my life being so much harder because of their sheer laziness/stupidity.
Sad part is, my g/f is afraid to punish her 2 yo because she thinks the court would grant custody to his POS "dad". I know I don't really have a place to say anything, but if we ever have kids together, they'll know when they mess up.... |

I worked day in and day out for the better part of a decade doing criminal child abuse, neglect and sexual abuse cases with Children's Services caseworkers, and on a number of occasions with social workers from Adult Protective Services and social workers from a couple MR/DD agencies on cases abuse involving handicapped kids. I found the number of lazy/stupid social workers pretty low, and in all honesty lower than the number of lazy/stupid cops i have encountered.
But it's all good, they may not trust you either. |

Lol, that's fine. The ones I'm more talking about though are the hospital type "Patient Care Managers". They may be good at what they do, but it doesn't really show when it comes to transports, the info is hardly ever right... |
