If you didn't want to drill any holes in the roof you could always go with a fender mount. That works better if you are parking in a garage.

+1 on the fender mount. Another suggestion is to mount the antenna to the luggage rack with a flat bracket. Just remove the cap from one of the ends of the luggage rack on the roof, drill a 5/16" hole into the vehicle under the cap area and run the coax cable in through there. Silicone the hole after the cable is where you want it, notch the cap for the coax cable and replace it. Nice clean install and no visible holes if you decide to remove it down the road.

Another alternative is a magnet mount. Personally, I believe in mounting antennas to the roof of a vehicle and feel that they should be permanently mounted using a 3/4" hole with an NMO mount, but that's just my $0.02

If you've only got one antenna, mount it right in front of the 3rd/middle rail. Or, right at the very rear between the rail and brake light. If you've got 2 ant, mount one in either side of the rail right across from each other.

+ 1 on the center mount for the 1 antenna, but if you have a pair, there has to be a certain amount of space between them to prevent intermod (distance depends on frequency bands of the antennas). If 2 VHF or UHF antenna, I would say that you would want to mount them in front of the two most outer rises. If low band is one of the antennas, then mount 1 to the front of the vehicle and the other to the rear. (I personally would mount the low band to the front, but that is mainly fro ground plane purposes.)
