I am not sure what to think here. I have been searching "For sale" sites looking for deals on specific old warning lights, and have found a few that I would really like to have.
Problem is: I do not seem to ever get a reply when I send an e-mail or even call for that matter.
There are 3 different items I am trying to purchase, I have left phone messages, sent e-mails. I just get no reply.
I am not making a pain of myself , I am just sending one e-mail to each every day, and calling once in the mid-morning & once after 7:00pm
Is it beacause these items sold and they just couldn't be bothered to reply?
Is it because they don't want to ship the items? ( I have a New England accent, they know I'm not local)
Anyone else have this problem? It just seems strange to have 3 different sellers avoiding me...............I took a shower this morning
Frustrated in Boston. |

| Is it through craigslist? I'm having the same problem, NOBODY ever gets back to me. I've had 5 people say they'd buy a guitar I was selling, all were local and gave me legitimate contact info. I never heard back from a single one of them. |

Yeah, Thats the one. And when I leave a phone message, it is just quick and to the point.
Something like: "Hi, I would like to but that light from you. I am a firefighter & light collector and that is exactly the light I have been looking for. Please call me back"
I dunno, I guess I'll keep trying |

| I think it should be a requirement that the item for sale be marked as SOLD to let others know that its gone and its thread locked. |

There's your problem, you're letting them know right off the bat that you're a whacker! Nobody wants a whacker seen at their house. What will the neighbors think? Another theory. Maybe they were forced to put these lights out for sale by their other halves so they figured if they put it on CL they could just keep telling the little women "Nope, still no interest in the light Honey". Things that make you go hhhmmmmmmm.... |

Not sure this is why you aren't getting good responses, especially since you are also leaving voicemails.
It is worth noting that many Craig's List sellers (including myself) won't reply to email inquires unless they specifically mention the exact item for sale. Here's why:
Usually when I post an item for sale on Craig's, I'll eventually get a seemingly innocent email asking something like:
"I will like to know if the item listed is still available for sales??"
The broken English is the first sign that something's not right. But the real red flag is that it is very generic. If I reply (yeah, I took the bait one time only), the next email will read something like:
"Hi, Thank for the prompt response to my mail,my Bank will be processing and mail a draft to cover the cost of my purchase as am completely satisfied with the advert.
I will need the details of whom & where tomail the draft. It will be delivered by the United Parcel Servicewithin 2-3 days. Please note 'United Parcel Service' do not deliver to P.O. Box addresses.
1.Name to be on the check
2.Home address
3.Mobile
Kindly delete the posting as am totally committed to buying from you to save me cost, my mover will be coming over for the pick up right only after the payment as been delivered and i want you to understand that, i love to call but am a deaf and only uses a hearing-inpaired phone the relay so please send me a email you leave a message on my voice mail 9518927140" it will be delivered as an email to me as well, thank you. Regards Kelly."
By this time it's an obvious scam and a waste of time. But now somebody's got my email address (or worse if i'd fallen for the second message) and can add it to their mailing list to sell to spammers worldwide. |
