|
|
Is it a possibility that when my fuse blew to the cigarette lighter plug on my car, the talon somehow shorted out? I tried wiring it three different ways, and it still doesn't work.
If it is the case that it's shorted, anyone able to point me in the direction of a dual talon in blue/blue? :] Thanks a lot. |

Did you try removing the plug and hardwiring it? You may have fried the cig plug as well...did you try another vehicle's cig plug outlet?
Good Luck

| Check for a fuse in the cigar plug. The end of the plug should unscrew. |

It is a hardwired light, to the wiring on the cigar plug as a temp. solution and today I did an overhaul on my car and rewired everything. The fuse did blow, twice. I replaced it, once again... placed the lighting to a hardwire straight to the battery, no go.
Warranty, how long is the turnaround on that? And what's the process |

| Alright so I sent the talon out to the big W; got it back, they said they tested it and all is well... going ahead to connect the light back up in my car; the switch is hooked up fine, everything where it should be... doesn't work; not getting power or something I'm guessing. :\ Any ideas on my end? |

Put a tester to the two wires you are connecting the Talon to. Check to see if there is any current going to the light. If Whelen says the light tested fine, you're obviously missing something. Are you connecting the wires backwards? (+) to ground and (-) to 12 volts? Wire the tester so the alligator clip is on a piece of the chassis and the probe touches the wire. If one wire is hot and the other doesn't light, attach the alligator clip to that wire and touch the probe to a 12 volt source. Sometimes, the problems are easily overlooked because we "know" they have to be working correctly. It's sometimes that simple.

| Possibley a bad switch as well? Check the connections to the switch itself makeing sure the switch is "wired" correctly... |

| Have you tried it in another car Just to verify that it does in fact work? Maybe Whelen screwed up or maybe you have a bad cig plug. |

I'm obviously a dumbass; hooked up the light to power supply that you plug in; got it working... figured what the hell is going on?! Looked at the wires that I was connecting; I was connecting the power to the ground and the ground to the power. :X
My bad! ;] Thanks a lot everyone... hopefully I'll be getting another light soon, and hopefully I won't be as stupid this time around. |

Hahahhaa; yeah... well... it took me popping 2 fuses to realize that I forgot to cover the exposed wires when I cut my talon out to get checked by Whelen. That's being a dumb ass...
And about the sale of the talon; it could be a possibility.. temporarily out of the job due to the place I work not being too busy; don't want people sitting around doing nothing while on the clock. |
