we just got a "new" truck at work and it was equipped with a Federal signal highlighter bar.
the question is do i have to open the unit to change the pattern on it or do i need to get a magnet to change the patterns?
and dose it have to some special magnet?

Thanks

Nick

Ps the search didnt bring up any thing so for give me if this has been talked about .

I'm assuming its led. You just need a decently powered magnet, a chunky one off the fridge will work. Look for a little area under the dome sticking up. Run the magnet over it quickly and it will change the pattern.

The hall effect sensor that you run the magnet over is in the top corner of the light. If you look down from above at the lightbar, there will be a little 1/4" hole in the circuit board in each of the 4 corners. In one of the corners there will be another, slightly larger hole. That's the corner you want. Inside that slightly bigger hole is the hall effect sensor.

You can change it by taking the little door off the bottom of the bar but it is easier with the magnet way. Just remember in order to switch the pattern the light has to flash the entire sequence before advancing at least thats how mine is.
