| Alright - I don't know cars well. What is the best technique to pulling a headliner down to tuck in wires and is it easy to replace in the ceiling? 2004 Tahoe. |

| Well, since you've had no response.... My experience is with the Suburbans of that model series (2000-2006). To drop the headliner, remove upper perimeter plastic at the rear door area (all use snap-in retainers, but be careful not to break the trim piece). Also, pull loose the rubber side door weather trim in the immediate area of the headliner. Sun visors and grab handles must be removed. Dome lights will unplug at the light when you get the whole thing disassembled. Clothes hooks are a bit tricky in that series (Suburban has them, can't tell you for sure in the Tahoe). The bottom half of those slide outward from the top half (after unsnapping the two halves), allowing them to be removed. It's a pain and as equally hard to properly explain without pics. If you have an overhead console, there are retaining screws and an electrical harness for the map lights/home link buttons that has to be unplugged. If memory serves me correctly, there are two industrial velcro pads on the front of the headliner above each visor. You can't see those, but they'll unhook when you pull down on the headliner. Plan on a few hours to remove and about one hour to re-install. Hope this helped. |

20 minutes - I concur for us experienced install guys, especially if you've done numerous of that specific model.
2 hours - I stand by that for someone who hasn't done one of these or any for that matter (as he described himself).
P.S. Truly hope (for his sake) he only needs to tuck and not remove. |

Thanks for the walk-through. Yes it's only going to be a tuck of several dashlights/rear lighting.
R. Dodd...you're biased as you're a pro at doing these things! |
