Hello everyone! My name's Rob, and I've been involved with emergency and utility vehicle warning systems since 1989. I worked for Code 3 - Public Safety Equipment from 1989 until 1996. I was a leadperson on the XS8000 lightbar line when I left for a better career making more money. But I still got this stuff in my blood, and all the new LED lights make me drool. How I wish we had these back in the 90's. I have recently begun outfitting my truck with amber and clear LEDs replacing my old 900 strobe beacon. Such warning is required in some municipalities when parking my truck on the street and retrieving tools and equipment at job sites. My buddy got fined for NOT having any warning lights on his truck when parked streetside. I may even start installing again if I get enough intrest. I'm glad I found this forum. Cheers! Smile

If anyone has any questions about Code 3 or vintage warning systems, I'll be happy to answer them. I have been out of the industry for the last 12 years, but like I said, it's in my blood. It has been ever since my dad took me to his station in the 6th district and ran the lights and sirens on one of the Malibu police cars in the garage. Most of my installs were for the amber light division known as PSE. But I did installs of prototypes and evaluation versions of the MX7000 and XS8000 lightbars and MasterCom sirens in some MSHP cars as well as some local departments. Now I do voice and data systems. And I do sub-contract work on the side. Not quite as fun, but it's more money.

Hi and welcome as well.. I worked at Ed Roehr's at about the same time. Around '92 and '94 and may have run into you around then. I was doing part time sales and installs. Enjoy your stay....

Wow - Ed Roehr's - I made a couple of visits there during the 90's. Do you remember a guy from Code 3 name of Arron Spalding? He used to get down there more often then I did.
When I left Code 3 - I had applied there as an installer in April of '96 and I got the job. But, while I was waiting for the following monday to start, I got this job offer (where I still work) closer to home and after talking it over with my wife I had to decline the offer at Ed Roehr's. Mainly due to the commute as I live in St.Charles County. It's funny how life is full of those "forks in the road". I forgot the guy's name that hired me, but he wasn't to happy with me because he had a couple of jobs lined up for me already. I felt bad about that, but it would have been an hour commute, and now with 40 down, and gas at $4, it would be crazy to commute that far everyday.

Aw, man, why didn't I see this earlier? Something makes me want to say 'keyboards', as in music. Was that you? Had you hung around, we would have probably gotten to know each other. I was in shipping with Greg, Joe,Steve,Peggy......or in the electronics room stuffing boards and building sirens for most of the time that you were there. Yes, I did do some of the Arizona system MasterComs that went to you guys. What was the name of the arrogant jerk that 'hit the floor'? (BTW, I've been there for 16 years now.)

Got my answer- Greg H*d*o* .........and Norm says "Hey".
