| Another firefighter joining the group here. I get to run red lights now, in another life I was in the towing business. The area truck team trooper would always say with a smile, " You can run whatever color lenses you want, so long as they are amber. " I wired my first when I was 14, a 1971 Chevy C-30 Holmes 440 wrecker, during a frame off restoration at the tow company I was employed at. (I never knew what the lightbar was, but with some help from my Antique Lighting Specialist friend CFD125, I'm sure it can be identified.) The owner of that '71 mentored me into the mindset of no extra lights were needed beyond DOT regs, and that seemed ok to me at that early age. Much like a rebellious child, several years later at a different company I "graduated" to a somewhat different opinion, somehow managing to run 42 (actual # !) strobes, all Whelen, not to mention a halogen Piercealert, headlight flashers, and a 100w siren. Well most of the lenses were amber. |
