For those of you on the East Coast, closer to NJ, NJ's State Convention is coming up 9/11-9/14 in Wildwood, NJ.
I personally have been to NY's, DE's, PA's, & MD's, and I can honestly say no one has a better convention then NJ. If anyone in the area has a chance, I encourage you to make the trip and see for yourself.
Those of you Jerz FF/EMT's back me up on this.
And for you light and siren guys, this is the place to buy. I bought TIR 3's new for 40 a piece, TIR6 Slimlighter's were 140.00 New. Mini Phantoms were going for 50 NEW. Everything was cheap. one of my vollie guys bought a New 4 head Dominator in blue for 120.00 |

| Besides the flashy blinkies, t-shirts and other assorted novelties there is also a lot of apparatus/equipment on display from numerous vendors.. Thats usually where a few of my company members and I spend most of the weekend. Then there is always the beach during the day and the boardwalk at night. |

Oh and the copious amounts of adult beverages! Just be careful and Watch out for the TRAMCAR on the boardwalk, it'll run you down if you aren't careful.... |

Probie,
I am an Orange County Transplant down to Southern NJ.(not my fault, women just suck) Anyway, from Rt 17 in Middletown/Goshen/Chester area to Wildwood, NJ took me a little over 2 1/2 hours doing about 5 over the speed limit. And a pit stop or 2. I took usually took 17 to 87, then 87 to Garden State Parkway, or on busy days, 287 to the Parkway. But 287 takes a lot longer.
And to the rest of the NJ er's, I was trying not to make NJ FF's into alcoholics. But, once you hit Shakers, Oceanic, Kelly's or the Hurricane, it's all over. hehe |

Not alcoholics..... alcoholics go to meetings.
In all seriousness, it is a really good time. Beach, Boardwalk, Amusments, Food, Seminars, Apparatus Display, Vendor Tents....... |

Everything is pretty much closed up on Sundays, your best bet would be Saturday.
I will be going down and be down from Thursday to SUnday with my company.
Oh and don't forget to go to "church". I've heard it's great and its going to be my 1st year staying overnight down there. |

| It is a Great time. I've been going since I was 18, that makes it about 11 years since I've been going. It's worth the trip. For the vendors and tents, Thursday-Saturday morning(parade's on Saturday) Big Parade also. I tried the "last day deals" and didn't really get much difference. The stuff is dirt cheap to begin with. |

| The parade has really gotten smaller in the 15 years Ive been going.. Last years was about an hour long I believe.. As opposed to the 3-4 that it used to be. Also it will be interesting to see how many apparatus show up with the price of diesel being so high. |

Damn im gonna be away from sept 7 to 14th.
In anycase Ive always taken 287 from exit 52 to the parkway and all the way down. No stops on the way, mostly following the speed limit I would be there in maximum 2 hours. |
