The $64,000 Question is: did anyone ever employ a Q-Pulsator, and, if so, is there a recording of it?

Wow the Original Rumbler!! The Pulsator! Laughing

Nothing beats the description of the Pulsator. "Sounds Like a Yodel and a Yelp", "an Indian War-Whoop".

This is really neat. I am confused though by the Q1 and the Q2 because they no longer use that for the different models.

I like the unmarked car tear drop light cover as well: "hmm I wonder what is on that" I am sure the ford galaxy with one of those got the same reaction as the crown victoria with steel wheels and a couple antenna do now.

What one never reads about the Federal Pulsator sirens is that they really were not a very well engineered items. They had several weak points in their design. The first was the wire drive, wherein a piece of piano wire was used to connect to the siren rotor to drive the pulsator unit. The second was the disc and shaft through which the drive wire passed. When the shaft was drilled for the wire, it weakened an already weak point that caused breakage after a fairly short period of time. In case you were wondering why virtually all of these items are found with badly dented housings, here's the reason. In the City of New York, in winter, they continually plugged up at the small opening at the front with sleet, snow, and slush. At that time, the driver would have to get out and whack it with his nightsick to free it up. Thus the dents.

I believe the Q1 and Q2 had different clutch designs.

allright.. this has me wondering:

air intake and sound ports are suitably screened to prevent entry of damaging object and at the same time to keep out fingers or other portions of human anatomy that might be injured....
