Im looking into getting a pair of grill lights for my truck, 99 Ford Explorer and was wondering what would fit best but still look good and hardly noticeable. I have a Dual Predator II on my dash so im looking toward LED if that's the right way to go but idk. Let me know what you think with pictures or link if possible. Also looking for something pretty simple to install and once installed not have to worry to much about. Was also wondering if i would have to purchase a switch to run them or how that would work. Let me know on either/or things.

well, if your on a budget i would suggest the Whelen Tir3's they are small, not expensive and pack a nice punch. easy to install and wire. i put 4 Tir3's on the front of our brush truck check the pics below. any switch including a simple toggle switch would be fine. sorry for the huge azz pics but you can really see the detail

Agreed, TIR3s are simple and easy to wire, no extra flasher to buy, can run them to a simple switch, and bright as hell!

Looks like they're mounted upside down Smile (Second pic lens lettering)

Nope. If you look closely you will see the lettering is on the top AND bottom of the lense.

So apparently either way is acceptable to mount them.

Size matters, especially since you've got the grill space. Go for a TIR6, or the new Linear8 lamps. Use a variable speed flash pattern -- I like ModuFlash, but anything that changes pace will keep the brain from relegating the pattern to the background.

The Whelen 400 series single level LEDs are good too. I have two flush mounted to my grille. Price wise they weren't a whole lot more than TIR3s. Just as easy to wire too.

These TIR3 they are great for hidden locations or out in the open.

for something behind the grille I would go with the TIR3 or TIR6 light heads.

Blue/Blue is all im aloud being a Volly FF

Also idk if anyone know but how is one suppose to get to the grill of a ford explorer 99, I lifted up the hood and it looks like it may be somewhat a difficult task to do, getting the lights mounted etc . . . Im not electric literiate or anything like that so something easy is the way id like to go.

What store is best and cheapest for the Tir3- Tir6's, like i know of LSH, Sirennet, Strobesnmore but where did you get yours and what did you pay if ur comfortable telling.

I was honestly looking into the Sound Off Signal Predator II grill lights any thoughts on them ?? But from the sounds of it Tir3's are the way to go.

Oh, good, blue.

Looks like you are looking at LED's but I do have my blue lollipop lights you could easily mount behind the grille, below the bumper, or really anywhere. Might be good for rear lighting too.

my recc. is to get a Haynes or Chilton's book. These are usually pretty detailed and helfpul. Step by step instructions with tear-down-build-up style pictures . . .

Nice to see that James has finally seen the light (Whelen light) and gotten his head out of the sand.
