My fire department has a new Crown Vic donated every year, for the year, for the fire chief to use. The vehicle has to be returned after the year is done, and the vehicle is then replaced with a new Crown Vic, and the old one is sold as a demonstrator (or so I'm told). This year, the B chief (assistant chief) is using it, and he has mentioned that he wants to put a bar on it, as traffic doesn't seem to yeild to him as he wants. The current setup is as follows, but I'm looking for suggestions to add a bar.
- Code 3 LED-X dual LED head mounted behind the RVM
- Whelen DashKing dual self contained strobe, dash mounted
- Sound-Off Q-Switch / Galls rebranded headlight flasher
- Hide-a-way strobes in the front cornering lights (marker lights removed, strobes installed in their place)
- 2 LED-X dual LED head (1 red/red, 1 red/amber) on rear deck
- PA300 siren
Anyone have any ideas for improving the visibility? I'm not sure where he's lacking, except for maybe intersection. |

| He could always add a pair of Linear led Mirror Beams. And if decides he still needs a full bar, a Liberty would look great on the Vic. |

| I was thinking along the lines of the linear LED Mirror Beams, but I'm still not sure what sort of budget I have to work with yet. |

I second the mirror beams, if he says he aint gettin' seen the TIR6 MBs would do the trick, the Linear ones also of course...
Maybe replace that DashKing with a Talon or TIR6 SlimLighter. |

That is definitely the important part. BTW, Jim Hess @ VLS is selling the Led Mirror Beams for the Vic @ $187.20 a set. And that is for the Super (linear) Leds.
Have you thought about adding lights in the rear door side windows for side warning? When I had my Vic, I had a single LedX unit mounted from the headliner and positioned at the top of the window. |

I agree with the mirror beams, they are great. How ever i would probably move the ledx's on the mirror to else where and put the talon up high. Another common thing people do around here is put 2 single talons in the upper corners (1 left and 1 right) of their windshield, inside of course. this would be a good option.
you could also look at a Code3 Supervisor. They range in price from $525 (you do not want the one this cheap it uses the LC light heads) to $1100 for a unit that has 8 ledX heads and 2 take downs. it would be a good option bc it wouldnt involve punching a hole through the roof of a car you dont own, and are getting rid of. |

The Supervisor is also availible for the same price as the led-x with 6 Optix modules. Do this one, not the led-x as it is MUCH brigthter. My department has the 2100 lightbars. Some are original generation with led-x, some are newer with led-x, and the latest are with optix modules. There is NO comparison.
Also, I've heard that Whelen's Inneredge is a good choice, although I've never seen it. |

| Get rid of the Dual Dash-King and replace it with a Whelen Slimlighter TIR6 Super-LED. Mirror Beams are a must for any slick-top vehicle in my opinion. I would think about adding some grille Super-LED's to the list - maybe four TIR3's. |

I would find a different way to mount them, as you have violated FMVSS 108 by removing the bulbs. By doing so you have rendered inoperable the front and front-side marker (parking) lamps & turn signals. The strobes would be plenty effective if installed thru the bottom of the housing. Remember that in the event of a accident, while your chief will bear some(if he requested or aproved the set-up), you as the installer will bear most of the responsibility since you \"should have known better\" by virtue of your function & experience.

| I recently saw a vic with a blue/white stack of TIR3's mounted on the B post. It was a UC car and that was all the warning power he needed for the sides. |
