| Any thoughts on LED's over Strobes? I am looking at the Whelen Dashmiser 2 and the Whelen Dual Talon (both R/C). Looking for good flashback on road signs and good visibility both day and night. Thanks. |

| they both kick back some but the strobe is more noticeable due to the dispersion of th elight in a strobe vs LED |

The Whelen Talon includes a plastic flashback shield and helps to protect the vehicle's operator from major flashback. In some vehicles it works like a charm, and in others it doesn't even seem like it's attach to the Talon.
If I had to choose between a Dual Dash-Miser Plus or a Dual Talon, I would have to say go with the Dual Talon. It's brighter overall, makes no noise, draws less power and has more flash patterns. However, if you do decide to go with the Dual Dash-Miser Plus, make sure you purchase a newer one that contains the Scan-Lock feature with selectable flash patterns. This way you can have more options than CometFlash |

I don't think he meant flashback as we discuss it here. (flashing in the cab, on the dash, in your eyes, etc.)
I think he meant bright enough to light the reflective highway signs up.
Both will do this great, but the Talon will probably make you happier.
My $0.02, of course. |

Go see one.... find a local distributor and see if they will let you see it at night..
Both a good - but the Talon will be as bright if not a bit brighter and can run for hours on end without lots of draw. |

| Could be how he or she measures brightness/effectiveness. |

I kinda agree with you Strobe, but don't turn signals also reflect off of road signs? Actually, this could be a hint at a further strain of whackerism---\"Fascination with Road Sign flashback\" ha |

| The idea of roadsign flashback is rather simple. Drivers can not be paying attention to their mirrors but see a red flash on roadsigns or stationary objects which will cause them to look in their mirror. |

This is true, I've also noticed this in many town/ urban areas where if you are paying atention you will see other EVs before the get to an intersection by the reflections on buildings and windows.

The old Federal 175 \"Hill\" lights used to be good for that. The light that was tilted up used to bounce off of buildings, tree's etc. You could see that long before you saw the actual vehicle. Some times 'old school' works!

DR Jon---I agree--those 45 degree lights were cool and RETRO man!
I wonder what genius (sincerely) came up with that? Fed Sig had such cool stuff. |
