I was just told that we may be going with Ford Expeditions vs. the previous decided Chevy Tahoes. Does anyone have some pics and/or videos of a whelen Liberty bar on an expedition, or some versions of LED setups that we could look at for ideas. thanks..

Aside from the three pics I emailed you; here is the website for various police and other emergency vehicle photos. You will find several suv photos, including Expeditions. The 2nd link is to a vehicle modifier for emergency services and has pics of their deliveries.

We have a couple very rough pictures of a new Expedition that our local FD just completed. Looks absolutely awesome.

It's got a loaded Vista SL bar on top, with GL2's on the front pushbumper, a pair of AS124's, and some of those nice little 3300 series surface mount lights to the side. Let me know if you're interested and I'll email them to you.

You may want to email me directly at:

(you can figure out the spam-proof address!).

Mark

I'll bet he's not interested in them either. I posted some pics of one, as well as Pat providing links to pics, but he is apparently only interested in ones with Liberty's. I deleted my post with pics because he didn't seem interested, so I figured why bother. Confused

I even sent him pics of Expeditions with both a Liberty and a Patriot; along with a link to a site for Police Vehicle pics.

Ok, thanks guys. If he emails I'll send them. If not, I won't.

I wasn't a huge fan of the white LEDs until I saw them in this Vista SL bar. It has two 9-button Solaris modules in the center/upper sections of the bar. WOW. Absolutely stunning.

I'm hoping the dep't will take professional pics of the truck then I'll send them to you.

just fyi, I didnt recieve any pics of a newer expedition with the Liberty on it.. the concern I have now, is that the bar will be too far forward on the vehicle since the luggage racks are on them.. I checked the police car website, and there are a ton of pics, just have to sit down and look through them.. thought you guys would have a quick pic of an install for reference. thanks

All depts around here are choosing the Freedom over the liberty on the expeditions. That extra 1.5\" of height sure helps on those vehicles with luggage racks. The ones we do utilize the luggage rack mount from whelen to boost the bar up some.

Did you get three pictures from me in an email? All were Expedition photos. One had a Liberty, one had a Patriot, and the 3rd had a Code 3 LedX.

Maybe your email server does not allow that many.

Pat,
Sorry for the mixup.. I found the email with the pics of the bars, thanks, It looks like the departments took the luggage racks off the roofs to mount them.. And in the pic with the liberty, it looks like they mounted it with a spacer. We ordered the bars yesterday and the new vehicles are on their way. I am hoping to get an idea of what they will look like both ways, so I can call and make the corrections before the vehicles are shipped.. ie. luggage racks or not. I think if we mount the liberty bar with the racks on there, just in front of the b-pillar, the bar will not be visible at all from a diaginal rear view,, Anyway,, sorry again for the mixup and I really do appreciate the pics guys..

Whelen makes a luggage rack mounting kit specifically for the Expedition. I think that is what they used in that photo. It mounts the feet to the luggage rack side tracks with no holes having to be drilled. In the process, it does raise the bar up about an inch. The mount kit number is 34. I actually mounted an Edge to an Expedition I had that way. You remove the front & rear cross bar.

The Expedition used to have just a track on either side. You can barely see them in the photo with the Liberty because of the photo angle. Now I think in 2005+, it is a raised side rail on each side.

You can download the mount kit install instructions from Whelen.
