Is there a company out there that makes a generation II or III LED product that is as slim as the SHO ME Microlite?

I have a buddy looking for some LED's, but wants a little better output than a Gen I LED...but likes the slimness of the Microlites. I never really thought about it...but after our conversation I'm curious as to why there aren't slimmer casings.

Someone enlighten me.... Very Happy

We had a whelen rep stop by and demo the liberty bar and several other LEDs including the TIR3. Look at the link below, these are pretty impressive in person, and you can watch the video if you have a good enough connection.. They are also pretty cheap. I saw a couple of pics on this board of someone installing them between the crack in the front bumpers of a tahoe.. looked great,, you might also look at 911EP TA's strips,, but I would stay away from them if you are going to be bumping in to them at all.. Whelen products seem to be the best and brightest in my opinion.. hope this helps..

jeeper---what are you talking about when you say \"bumping\" into the 911EP TD39? Shocked
Having someone bump into an LED light isn't going to affect it whatsoever. Again, I'm totally confused as to what you mean. If you have an officer who keeps \"bumping\" into your expensive equipment, tell him to watch his fat ass and/or penalize him if he breaks something.

Remember, LED products are built to withstand road vibration, jarring, etc.

okay, the reason I brought this up, was simply because we originally had planned on installing a 911ep TA39 strip between the back bumper and lift gate of our new tahoes. I saw this at another agency and it looks great. But, the concern we had, was when we close the gate, pull our bags in and out of the back, getting equipment out of the back etc. the lights would be bumped. I read a thread on hear that stated one of the only problems someone had with the 911ep strip was that two of the modules stopped working for some reason.. I just assumed it was either abuse or rattled loose.. I may be wrong,, but I figured we would go with a differant set up..

okay cool, thanks....please do snap us some pics of your beautiful state up there after it snows, okay??

P.S. Please don't believe everything you read here because after you go crazy, you'll determine that basically no product fits everyone. Laughing

I assume you mean slim as in front to back, \"depth\", right? That kind of negates the TIR3 since they are deeper. I have not seen anything as slim as the Gen 1 stuff, and I would imagine it is because of the reflector surrounding the oversize Gen 3 LEDs. There is no reflector on the Gen 1 stuff.

Yep...you are correct...the depth is what I was talking about. The TIR 3 is a lot thicker/deeper than the Microlites....

I guess he's just out of luck when it comes to getting a Gen III LED slimmed down like a Microlite.

As soon as we get the new rigs, I will post some pics.. I will try and snap some of the snow next week. we got about ten inches today, but its all melted away now. It is really nice when it snows, at least to look at, but when you come to work and have to handle the accidents, then its not as fun..
