Can anyone give their opinions about what they think for my situation.

I have 500 to spend on a slick-top lighting package for my 04 Impala. I already have hide away strobes in the head/tail lights and am looking for ideas for the rest of the car(no lightbar). I would consider strobe and LED, keeping in mind that I would like best warning possible in the front and possibly the sides for clearing intersections.
So for 500 dollars lets hear what you would do to make this car as noticable on the highways as possible.(pics would be nice if possible too) thanks.

dual talon to the front, and synch'd single talons on the rear deck, one in each corner.

They do make mirror beams and they look great, but would kick the price up significantly.

of course whatever you buy, make sure it's Whelen! Nothing else even slightly compares. You'll notice that's what everyone recommends on eLightbars.org in such a matter-of-fact way. Laughing

Don't bother with, or even look at, a Sound-Off Predator 2, Tomar T-LED (the new flat one), 911EP LS12 or the Federal Signal Cuda Tri-Optic..

Just get Whelen cause they're the best and brightest--hands down.

That's my 2.

(again, the face----> Laughing )

Yes the Predator 2 is very good light as well! I recommend Whelen becuase that's what I have had the best experience with, and apparently many more here have as well. Very Happy Just my opinions, not the law.

Harrow has only posted that to be sarcastic and a smart ass; as he has alluded to in another posted topic.

The big thing with a budget is the new versus used question. You can find some incredible deals on eBay (or here!) if you're willing to make some concessions -- maybe you're willing to get a color pattern that isn't exactly what you want, or maybe you're willing to use a brand that you might not choose first, or maybe you're willing to use technology that isn't LED...

That leaves a LOT of choices, and a lot of options.

I'd find two used dual Talons and one used single Talon, if I were you. Don't worry about sync, since there's some joy in four large linear 8 bulbs going off randomly out your back window. Mount two out your back window, one out your front.

On eBay today, that's just about $500...if you have the time to wait for a great deal. Smile

If you're going for a LED dashlight...definitely look at the Predator II. I personally like that better than the Talon, but this is my preference.

I have found that the vertical viewing is better than the talon...horizontal is just as good on both.

Have they improved to such that the flashback shield stays on better? That was my only complaint with the Pred I's; one end of the shield constantly popping off and then rattling against the windshield.

Pat - the one that I saw when doing the comparison didn't have the flashback on it...so I'm not sure...maybe someone will chime in.

i just did a impala for someone.....it should be in your price range without labor if you install yourself..

(2) gen 1 slimlighters red/red cost about $250.00 for both on rear deck

(2) tir 3 in grill $110.00 for both

(1) split talon $140.00 on front dash

or you can out 2 tir3 on the rearview mirror..i did that to another slicktop last week...

Thanks guys, that all great advise. I found a strobe power supply from a member in my department so I am going to put some strobes on my back deck.
I think I may go with 2 slimlighters or two talons on the headliner. and Tir3 mounted to the side in some way for the extra light while clearing intersections.
Since I am a fire chief I need to put more warning power up front.(I need people to get out of my way when im coming up behind them not when I have already passed them). So for this reason I think the deck strobes and the tail light strobes will work just fine.
What are your opinions on the Tir6 ultra slimlighters vrs. the dual talons?
All your input is greatly appreciated.(Even the occasional comic relief).

Sigh... not again? ... Very Happy

Both very bright.
SlimLighter bright head on, off axis not great.
Talon bright head on, off axis is better than SlimLighter.
