I am new with strobe installations. I have a 2000 F150 and just purchased the Whelen CPS690 kit. Is there anything I should watch for when installing the tubes in the front? Are there any technical issues when putting them inside the headlight vs inside the front turnlight?
I hope this doesnt sound like a dumb question, but should the power supply be mounted inside the truck or can it be put in the engine compartment?
Thanks again for all the great advice!! |

| You want to mount the power supply inside the cab, best bet would probably be under the driver's seat. You will need a 1 inch circular drill bit for the strobes, and put them on the corner lights and not the headlights. If they are in they headlights they are completely ineffective during the day, and are cancelled out by the headlights at night. Remember, measure thrice, cut once. Hope this helps, and good luck with your install. |

You would be better off putting them in the front corners; be sure to maintain clearance from the factory bulbs. Because of the large headlight reflector surface, the strobes would be drowned out when the headlights are on.
The power supply is not weather proof and should be mounted inside of the vehicle. |

I'm not convinced 100% of that. Mine clear traffic just fine in my headlight housings. But, they work even better if you don't have DRLs. Headlight housing are fine, you will just get less intersection warning.

Agreed, the PS and automatic car washes DO NOT get along very well!

| It is also going to depend on the size of the headlight housing. The 2000 Ford F150 is bigger than the GMC/Chevy, I believe. |

| Good point Pat, the smaller the housing the better it will work. In the GM vehicles the DRL or High beam housing works good, if the DRLs are disabled. Although in the F-150 the corners may be a better option. |

| I mount the strobes in the front inside the corner lamps. The last one I did also got strobes in the fog lights, as well as TIR3's on the mirrors (extreme pain in the ass, don't try it). I agree that strobes in the headlights are useless at night because you can't see them at all. |

I've got the exact truck with the exact setup.I put the tubes in the front corners positioned near the factory bulb.I can get pictures tomorrow and send you.Taillights are hard to get into the focal point.Just near the bulb should be fine.I also have TIR 3's in the grille and 3x4 strobes in the back window(extended cab) hooked to the 690.Thank you.
