Did an install for a friend today on their 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer. Installed a Whelen Slimlighter TIR6 Super-LED SLPMMBC on the dash and a Whelen 6-Head Dominator D6BCBBCB on the rear headliner. Both came out looking perfect. The Dominator looks amazing in the rear window, and the factory window tint did not take away from the light's output too much. The Slimlighter is always a good choice for bright warning. Check out the pictures here.

I used the Whelen DBKT4 \"L\" Angled Bracket kit to mount the Dominator to the rear headliner, but custom cut the brackets to clear the rearview mirror.

Maybe I misread what you wrote; but if the Dominator is mounted in rear, why would you have to cut the brackets to clear the mirror, when the mirror is mounted in front??

I had the same problem with the DBKT4 brackets.

Those things are so long that when you mount them to the rear headliner, it puts them in a position to obstruct the view out of the rear view mirror.

Very nice install Kirk. The Dominator's are really great lights. Good choice on the customer's part. I am curious as to the choice of Clear to the rear on that bar. I am sure the factory tint will flute the color a little, but Clear TIR3's don't seem to pack much of a punch.

I mounted the Dominator as close to the headliner as possible to keep it out of the view of the rearview mirror. Meaning if you're driving the vehicle the Dominator is not hanging in your field of vision in the rear window.

That makes sense now.

The customer didn't want to go with a solid Blue Dominator. And we're only allowed to run Blue, Clear and Amber, so he decided to go with two White modules. It doesn't look bad and it breaks up the Dominator a bit. The Blue is brighter than the White though.

Ah.. Okay. That makes some sense. That would be a good break in between the colors.

On a side note though, another member here on the boards has an D8 in Red/Blue with 2 Ambers mixed in, and to be honest with you, in that particular configuration I couldn't distinguish the Amber's from the other colors. Seems they got washed out by the Reds and Blues. The Red's were the more dominant color in this configuration.

I've sold a bunch of Dominators with Red & Blue LED's, and they look the best. I wish I could use Red LED's with my configurations, but I can't.

Looks good. I am contemplating a dominator for my truck if I end up getting a fiberglass cap for the bed. Something mounted externally over the rear gate.

I'm seriously thinking of getting either a 6 or 8 dominator when I graduate from the fire academy but my only complaint with the TIR3's is everytime I go to get a set for my grille I always get 2 different colors of blue, they are usually a teal looking and a really crisp blue and I don't want to get a stick with 6 or 8 different blues is my question?? Have they fixed this or just something that happens with the singles?

Since this problem occurs only with batches, I would hope it would be safe to assume that Whelen makes sure that blues being used in a dominator would be all from the same batch?

I have four TIR3's in my grille. Three are a crisp Blue, the other is a Tealish color and totally looks out of place. I also have a few friends with TIR3's where they do not match up. While the TIR3 Super-LED colors not always matching is a pain in the ***, I have yet to see this problem with Dominators. Like Hugh said, I'm sure Whelen is making sure that this doesn't happen with the Dominators.

I purchased a 6 head dominator from K&D in BRAARB combo and it works very well mounted on the rear deck on the Impala. Very low pro and not noticeable till it's on, shocks people when it's flipped on. I have had the same problem as Brian and Kirk, where the tir's in my grille are two different shades of blue, ordered a replacement and it was still off, oh well. The blue's in the dominator are the same shade.
