The Whelen FlatLighter I have personally used. It works ok. The comet flash models tend to do better than the older double flash ones.
Today I wouldn't pay more than $50 for one.

I've ran a Gen 2 LED Whelen one before and it worked pretty good, but the Gen 3 stuff is so much brighter. Only problem is I don't believe there are any Gen 3 model visor lights out there yet. (This was an earlier topic)

Tomar makes the only Gen 3 Led visor light and it is very bright.
