[quote:9f8f95be5d=\"cmb56\"]The Unity web site has never been good and it is still not.
I spoke with them for about 3 months ago and they answered directly both times and they always give good information over the phone. That is at least my experience. I become a little confused when you wrote that they still had blue Spitfire lenses for sale because they had told me that they where all gone.
What I believed is that you found a site link that they had not removed.

What they mean with, -We have two solid blue domes left in that series, I do not understand. The lenses for the RV-26, RV-45 and RV-46 are to my knowledge the same. They also told me that they manufacture all models. They sell about 200-400 RV-46 to the Michigan State Police each year regarding Unity.

[quote:9f8f95be5d=\"lrgjr72\"]The RV-26 & RV-46 are the beacons with the six inch beams (bigger dome). The RV-25 & RV-45 sport smaller five inch beams and smaller domes. The model numbers' \"2\" indicates two beams in the beacon while the \"4\" means four beams. I think the MSP now has a mix of two and four beam RV beacons.

I think you have misunderstood the construction of the lights. The RV-26, RV-45 and RV-46 have the same dome regardless if they have PAR36 or PAR46 sealed beams. The part number of the dome is 1282 on all.

Michigan State Police bought RV-26 before and since about 3 years they are buying RV-46 regarding Unity.

You are absolutely correct. I was mistaken on the 1282 dome. It is the RV-25 that is the oddball of the bunch, having the smaller profile and dome. My apologies for the error. Here is the RV-25:

[quote:6d3dbc2e65=\"lrgjr72\"]The Spitfire lens, which most here should know by now, has been discontinued by Unity. HOWEVER, I noticed on thier webpage that the blue Spitfire is still available for sale. There must be some blue surplus remaining. I ordered one just to see what happens ($55 with s/h).

I remember when the Detroit Police used these blue Spitfires atop a single beacon almost as the counterpart to the red ones used by the MSP. Detroit didn't use them long as they seemed to have been having a \"lighting identity crisis\" at that time (the late 70s). Anyway, here's the link if anyone is interested:
