have you seen any pictures of it? The lenses are the important part.

They're fairly easy to fix if its a motor or a chain, theres lots of twinsonics still around to steal parts from if it came to that.

Actually...the chains are different lengths. Twinsonics are 54\" long, and the NYPD AeroTwin is only 47\" long. That having been said, MOST AeroTwins are longer...but the NYPD ones aren't Cool

If you think it is worth it, the AeroDynic is still in manufacture so you should be able to get new domes for the AeroTwinSonic from Federal.

Can you post the pics here? Does it have mounts? Lenses can be changed and repaired, but its a pain sometimes, how does it run?

doesent look too terrible. You'll need to locate some replacement lenses, check with ChargerLighting here, he usually has some pieces around. If not, ebay or others here might have some spares. Make sure you figure out the right sections (They're \"handed\", a piece will work for the front of one side or the back of the other)

Once you locate and end cap and a couple lenses, you'll have to remove the top chrome pieces, split the lenses apart carefully, install the new lense sections and put it all back together. If you try a search of the site, there should be some tips and advice on how to do this easily and what works best for it.

Keep us posted on the progress!

Correct bulbs are:

outer revolving: 4464 & 4464R (these are 60 watts each, many people incorrectly substitute 4416 which is 30 watts. No 7400's or 7600's please!)

inner flashing: 4414 (clear 18 watt with a faceted \"flood\" type outer glass lens, as opposed to a \"spot\" lamp like the 4416)

Good luck!

I noticed in the pics that the amber sections were facing forward (speaker housing gave it away). When you install new domes, red faces forward--amber to rear. (correct, all?)

The clear versions aren't hard to find, the 4414 is a common bulb in emergency building lighting. Also try frontierlighting.com, moyerelectronics.com, topbulb.com, there must be others.

The red 4464R is VERY hard to find and when you do will most likely be lacquered clear bulbs. Maybe John Dorgan has a source.

I still do not know exactly what NYPD used for sealed beams in their 24RMVF-2Z, but my 24RMVF bought from Federal in 1989 had 4416 in the rotating and 4414 in the flashing positions.

It is the speaker housing that is backwards. The 24RMVF was delivered with the motor facing forward and NYPD had them mounted that way.

Do you all remember when Galls was selling NYPD areo-dynic bars used in their catalog? I was trying to sell my twin-sonic so I could by one.

The sold out before I could get one.

I remember when their catalog was 4 pages long on regular paper, 11x17 folded in half.
