Greetings, all. I've been making some of you scratch and/or shake your heads at my posts for a few weeks now so I figured I'd clue you in to who I am. My first experience in vehicle lighting was wiring up Christmas lights in a configuration to run 12v (no inverter, that'd be cheating!) and quickly finding it didn't go over well with the brake light switch (can you say \"melted\"?).
Beyond that, I've done various automotive electronics work here-and-there the last 10 or so years as needed (car stereos, complete engine harness replacement due to fire, various kinds of lighting (yes, been shocked by strobe PS's before), radio equipment (NOOO, I don't use a 10-12ga butt splice on RG-58 coax!!!), etc).
I'm currently working as an AV geek at an educational institution and am also involved with the local ARES group. The rest... Well... I'll keep some information to myself. Thanks to all who have helped so far and also thanks in general... I've learned a lot already!!!

| Welcome to the boards. Always fun to hear horror stories of installs gone wrong. |

Hey, I was in my mid-teens and it was a Geo. It needed something to make it look a little more interesting (NO, I don't want to hear about how red, green, and blue were improper colors to use in a vehicle even if they were just Christmas lights. We actually started a trend... Other high-schoolers bought inverters and started stringing Christmas lights on their luggage racks) .
Hmm... I didn't mention the vehicle fire from the Volkswagen converted from 6v to 12v... That was partially my brother's fault for not securing the voltage regulator correctly. 2 fire extinguishers later...
The shock from the strobe PS happened on the bench. My poor dog about crapped himself when he heard me yell...
Hmm, what else did I have go wrong in my earlier days?
