It always worried me when the doggy cops did that - I figured some scrote would douse the ball with crystal or something.
That would take a lot of balls... lol. In my county one of the K-9 Deputies sticks a tennis ball between the domes of his Vector. Looks real nice.

This came through the shop the other day. This officer went to a lot of trouble to put this scanner antenna here.

The fact that he went through the effort to do that just makes it even more ridiculous. The point of those is to mount high in the window to give it that \"cell phone\" antenna look.
I am sure what drove him to do it was a clearance issue. Those window scanner antennas are actually pretty tall. |

That or someone told him the defrost wires would interfere with the operation of the antenna. |

I found one the other day when I was reprogramming one of my deputies light bar. The white 8 guage wire off the Cencom Gold amp was wired really bad. The guy went from an 8 gauge wire down to a 22 gauge wire with quick connects. I was shocked. I didn't get a picture of it but I should have. |

These are some scary installs, surprised that they did not already catch on fire. I am going to to an install on my F150 here soon and just by reading through this thread I consider myself an expert. I was trained by General Fire in Milwaukee, but only did installs for about 1 month. I learned allot in just that short time period. I sure hope that the places that did these installs are not consider professional shops, because I could do better with my eyes closed.
I always use a main breaker very close to the battery so if these is any type of ground fault, everything shuts off. I have seen installs with no fuses from the switch box to the battery, that is just stupid. What if that wire gets a crack and touches metal, the inline fuses on that switch box will do nothing.
Keep the bad install pictures coming, they are very interesting. |

This is more on the messy side than dangerous really. Plus, if you knew the guy and didnt like him you could always cut the bundle of wires with a pair of scissors and watch him scratch his head as he figures out why his lights didnt work.

Remove loom; cut wire; re-attach loom. That would be quite a head scracher. |
