My department was cleaning out the Attic And I was the proud repcient of an old OSP Jetsonic. I have NO Idea what features this bar has because it was before my time I had expected to get the old one that was on the car when new.. (hopefully someday). But for now this is what I have

This is a chain driven lightbar, pic of the powerblock and chain

This is like the OSP distress light, this is what makes me believe its an old OSP lightbar , also department bought 12 old OSP bars over the years

Here is the model number

Passanger Side Area

Cool bar! Maybe someone just cut out that part of the mirrors with some tin snips? I've never seen that before either.

I think it's otherwise known as a hostage light. If the trooper is taken hostage he can silently activate this small light to summonse(sp?) help. 911EP's Galaxy's have a hostage light built into them as well. It lights up one of the rear modules at a dimmed intensity.

No this light was used if a trooper was taken hostage, he would flip a hidden switch, and allow the light to steady burn a bright purple, alerting others (police ) he was in trouble

Looks like they cut that out to get an extra flash to the front...instead of the rotator shining directly back into the mirror..kinda like a dud flash ya know.

Some things that your bar should be able to do,

All lights will spin and be on, All lights spin and front bulbs turned off,
All lights should recenter themselves kinda like a vision,
All lights should be able to flash and front should be able to cut out.

That is how mine was set up. I didnt have the cut thru with the mirrior tho.

After closer inspection, I think that was done by the street department while they used it

Do you have pics of how it's wired to work like you described

This jet does not have the controller board (neither the microswitch on the motor) to do these \"advanced\" features.

Yep, no controller board, looks like a TURN-and-BURN type of JetSonic only!

I have never seen an OSP jetsonic that had any advanced functions.

I have also never, ever heard of the hostage light ever actually being used. At least one OSP car had a small light in the grille that was lit when the trooper's wireless mike was operating. I found that out the hard way by seeing one blinking at a traffic stop when i came screaming back around across the median in my POV thinking that it was a duress light and that he was in trouble. He wasn't.

Ive only seen 1 in operation once, before I was a LEO I followed the guy for miles tailgating him flashing my headlights, Until he got pissed and had another trooper pull me over, I explaind to him what I was doing, he was cool, but before that he was pissed

Ryan sounds like you had one of the first generation bars. Later they were dumbed down (too lower the price) the ones OSP had were the second generation.
