Last week my FD purchased a 2005 Chevy Colorado for a Chiefs Vehicle. Anyone on here had any experience with installs on them yet?? We're gonna keep it basic - full size lightbar/4 corner strobes/arrowstik + light/siren controller pkg. Also any recommendations on a console for it?? I haven't dug into the major console manufactures yet but I can't get too elaborate - have a budget of around $1500 which has to do striping as well. Thanks in advance for any and all comments...

How much does the striping package cost? And does your budget need to cover the cost of radios too?

Striping package is yet to be determined, but a friend with a full scale vinyl business will be doing it, so it will be cost of materials plus a nominal fee for install. Radios are already purchased - just need the warning stuff now.

I did an install on an '05 Colorado several months ago... it was the extended cab version (not the four door model). It got six hideaways (one in each reverse light, one in each tail light, two in the front marker lights), a 911EP LS-12, dual dashmaster, GE powercall w/ speaker. I do remember that it was a BEAR trying to find a spot to mount the strobe pack and siren as he did not want it in the dash anywhere, just remote switches controlling everything. I ended up putting the strobe pack under the passenger's seat with a lot of wire wrap and ties to keep the wiring under control so that he was still able to use the seat to slide. The powercall got mounted to the back wall of the cab as that was the only other place in the passenger compartment with enough room to put anything.
Should be a little easier if you get a console to mount everything to. I do remember that the cabling from engine compartment to the cab wasn't that hard to run as you had pretty good access through the firewall.
Good luck, and let me know if there's anything I can help with.

To save some money on your siren/switch controller, Pat H has had a whelen 295HSFA5 controller for sale for about nine years now at a good price. That would be able to handle your lighting needs. Even if it didn't, a few relays would be cheap enough.
As far as a console goes, get a tree from strobesnmore.com for cheap. Between $35-$75, I would think. Mount it in front of the split bench on the floor. |

I own an 05 Colorado extended cab. I haven't installed anything yet, but I'm in the process of putting in a radio. Is your vehicle the split bench or bucket seats? There is a little bit of room under each seat, not a heck of a lot. And there is a large grommet in the firewall directly behind the battery that works great.

whats going on, I have an 04 colorado extended cab. I'm a FLEO and have a simple set up in my truck for when I have to get into my HQ in a quicker time since i am nearly 30 mins from work. In the front I have two Mini Phantoms R/B on the upper right and left side of the windsheild and a single R/C Talon lower center of the windsheild. And facing rear I have two R/R Mini Phantoms in the lower corners. I also have a set of 4 HAW that I have yet to put in. Hope that helps , although Id highly doubt you would want to use the mini's for an everyday cheifs truck.
