Simply put, The Professional Lounge is designed for mature conversation. Those who cannot contribute in a mature manner will not be allowed access to this part of the site.

Take the trask-talk, rants, raves, politics, and completely off-the-wall ramblings to the off-topic forum. Very Happy

So...would this be open to all and then kicked off as things go bad or an invite only kind of thing?

I know with phpBB you can do all sorts of cool stuff with invisable, visable no post access etc etc.

Oh, are avatars going to be enabled? Way to go with phpBB! Been waiting for it here!

Would be open to all registered users. Those who abuse will suddenly find that it 'disappears'. Also, we might consider closing it to the outside world (meaning, you must be a registered user to view it). Thoughts?

Probably so. I'd also like to examine the (limited) ability to attach photos to posts.

Thanks Pj!

with avatars the best that i have seen is either 100 x 100 pixel size or 150 x 150.

other then that it takes up to much space for the actual post.

also if you set it to automatically adjust it to that size.

A guy i know on another forum runs the site and he is in Austin TX. If you want i could ask him to email you and give you some pointers.

Like change the colors of the background, and tell you how to allow no one to post unless registered also he could give you more emoticons. Laughing

This is a great idea,,, Hopefully you will institute a \"one strike and you're out\" policy.

IMHO I think that this is a great idea. Not to sure about the one strike and your out though. Everybody makes mistakes or gets carried away from time to time. It is the constant abusers or sh*t stirrers that should be denied access. Just my .02

both of those are rather large..
150x150 is rediculous!

1. It's TOO LARGE for the format of this message board.
2. Dialup users would hate waiting on poorly compressed 150x150 images to download.

90x90 or smaller, IIRC, this boards default is 80x80 if it's even editable without installing a mod.

avatars are small pictures that would go under your username and title and above your joined date, location, etc.

thats why i suggested 100 x 100 first. I usded to have dial up and those did not load slow at all. now i have DSL lite and it definetly isnt a problem

2 boards i am on now already use 100 x 100 and it isnt \"to big\"

90x 90 are WAY to small and you have to get a magnifying glass to see anuthing smaller then that. You cant eeven google an image that is less then 80x80 cause all you would seee would be this----------> .

this is an example

100x 100

150x 150

90x90

80x80

you have to remeber that 3/4th of the board is \"up in years\" Laughing and they would have to pull out the bifocals to see half of this stuff anyways.

I give you an A for effort, but your images are very off, especially the 150x150, and the 80x80 example, is actually 90x90.

I agree, I think a little grace can go along way, simply reminding someone who gets carried away is usually good enough. If it's not, then lock them out . . .

You two are both right on the money. Lord knows I've made my share of mistakes... (just about) everybody deserves a second chance.

(A word of caution, though: those who come in here specifically to instigate will lose access to this forum. We're not talking about banning users, we're just talking about denying certain trouble-makers the liberty of posting in the 'professional lounge' forum Smile).
