I need find a good spot to tap into the dash lights on a 2002 Chev Avalanche. I installed a switchbox and want the backlights tied in with the dash to make them dimmable.

Install gurus.... where is the best place to tie it in?

I'm wondering if anyone out there has done one or knows what color wire to tap and where? Its too bad they don't have a lighted ashtray or something under the dash thats easy to get to. I really don't feel like taking the dash apart again Mad

the radio fuse or dash fuse might be a good place.

The 2002 is similar to the 02 Tahors/burbs...and many of the tricks don't work or isn't documented well.

However.... (if its there), tap into the side fuse panel and look for the radio fuse. There should be a label on the back side of the access cover. I know my Avalanche (04) has a couple of different places where the radio has a fuse, depending on the sound system installed.

My ignition is taped at the underhood fuse panel.

i'm not sure but if you tap into the fuse in the fuse panel going to the dash, or radio, that's just gonna be 12v, and it's not gonna dim the panel. you may have to take the headlight switch out and take a volt meter and run the dimmer dial up and down while checking voltage to find the wire that causes the lights to dim.
