| I'm putting a Unitrol 80K in my Impreza and I have some questions on speaker placement. I want them to be as loud as possible, so they need to be mounted with almost no obstructions. Anyways, there are two empty slots where fog lights would go down low on the corners of my front bumper, maybe 5 in. wide, 2.5 in. tall and 7in. depth. Are there any models of speakers that I could manage to fit in there? I thought of CPI because they make some small and weird shaped speakers. |

| Darn! Wish you posted this like a month earlier! We have a guy on our dept who just left for a FF job in Antarctica that had a Subaru with a speaker exactly where you are talking about. I don't have any pics, or way of checking, however I know he used a standard cone and bell rectangular siren speaker and it was very loud and fit nicely. I do believe he had to trim the cone slightly. |

The Whelen Project-A-Flex may do the trick. But expect to pay $300-$350 for one new. Same goes with the CPI stuff, if you can track it down, expect to pay a bit.
The problem with most sirens is that to be 100W at the correct resistance for siren use, they can't be made much smaller, it is kind of up to the housing it is in. Problem the best are the CPI Compax speakers - they are actually quite small and not very deep at all. We have two on an ambulance and they measure abouut 5\" square on the front and aren't really that deep. The Whelen SA315P's are in a close competition for being the smallest volume wise as well. |
