Alright guys we are about to order a new bad-ass 2009 Ford Expedition EL that will run medical emergencies and also serve as a command vehicle. Here are the specs that were approved by the committee building the vehicle.

2009 Ford Expedition EL in Crimson Red

Lighting Package
-Whelen Liberty LED lightbar w/takedowns and alleys
-Whelen HLF
-(2) Whelen TIR6 R/C LED's (on sides of pushbumper)
-(2) Whelen LIN6 red LED's (front of pushbumper)
-(2) Whelen TIR6 red Slimlighters in rear side glass
-Whelen 8 head Dominator red w/amber ends (rear glass)
-(2) Whelen LIN4's red on rear license plate bracket

Siren/Console Package
-Unitrol Touchmaster Delta
-(2) Federal Signal AS124 100 watt speakers (on pushbumper)
-Havis Shields vehicle specific console

Radio/Computer Package
-Not sure of the exact model number but will be a 700mHz with the main in the front and an auxillary head in the back.
-Computer will be a Panasonic Toughbook with the touchscreen and Firehouse Mobile software to automatically integrate pre-fire plans and pictures of the actual site we are responding to the call when it comes over the laptop.

Command Console
-OK, there are some vehicle specific consoles (for lack of a better word) that go in the back of the Expedition that can hold an air pack/extinguisher, radios, laptops, and also a slide out expo command board to keep track of personel and the scene in general. However, these are like $3,000. Having a budget of $50,000 for this vehicle, we were a little over at the end, so, we are having a local guy build us one and have it carpeted to match the vehicle. This will be an interesting project.

This is it for now, we have one more committee meeting next week probably where we will approve all the final stuff and actually order the truck. Anyone with any insight or comments as to something else we could consider please comment!!! Lata

oh, duh! I would just replace the side TIR6 with the front Lin6 for some better off-axis warning while nosing into a intersecton.

Agreed.

I notice you have all LED lighting, except for the HLF. I'd advise you throw in some strobe somewhere, perhaps on the four corners.

Also, make sure you specify you want a fully populated Liberty. Wouldn't want to see you get just the four corner modules, alleys, and takedowns. It HAS happened...

Just a suggestion. Look into the 5\" riser mounting brackets for the Liberty. With the lower profile LB, you might want to make it taller so you can see the rear of the bar from behind the vehicle.
