What is the difference between the motorola HT1250 and the Ls model? Is one better than the other?

If i'm not mistaken the Ht1250 is for conventional systems while the LS model is for Trunking Systems. I'm sure someone else will be able to give more details but those are the biggest differences.

Correct on the conventional/trunking assessment. The LS and LS+ will do a (very) limited number of conventional channels, but I recommend sticking with the correct model for your system's needs. You will be disappointed otherwise. BTW, the LS/LS+ won't do MDC encode either, if your system requires it. All said, that's why the LS/LS+ models are available on eBay in great quantities. Folks buy them because they are traditionally a bit less expensive than their conventional counterpart and then want to sell them soon after when they won't do all the features that the conventional HT1250 will. Anyone else find more limitations on the trunking versions?

Ok. Thanks. I new there was a difference and that the regular model was better. I was wondering why it was so tough to find a regualr model on ebay. Anyone know where I can get a cheap used ht1250?

The uhf LS+ models that have 32 (and above) conventional channels will do mdc.

Hmmm...good to know. One of my firefighters has an LS+ and the MDC pages will not activate during programming. He's using 16 conventional channels, tho. Thanks for the input.

if you upgrade the firmware in the HT1250ls+ you gain the 16 more conventional channels (total of 32) as well as MDC and QuickCall II
