Ok, so this isn't the typical install you would see on here, but I finished this install/restoration last week. It's a 1993 Mustang originally owned by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. All the emergency equipment is old MSHP stock (except for the radar) and everything works. The car is 100% equipped as it was when the Patrol owned it, it's so accurate equipment wise you would think it was still in-service. It's a show car only, it's not used for service anymore.

I've also got a 1989 Missouri Mustang and it is also 100% restored.

Believe me, a 5.0 coupe Mustang with a 5 speed is fun to drive!

I guess I should mention the equipment too, it's got a Code 3 3691L4 siren/light control, the LP6000 (with rear amber flashers, 4 regular speed rotators and flashing takedowns) and a headlight flasher. It's old school all the way just like back in 93!

So that car was used with a factory 5 speed? Man, I can't imagine having to shift, along with all that other do-dads, switches and levers while patroling! Shocked

Our F-350 7.3L Brush is a manual tranny. I can honestly say it's a beach to run priority 1 (L&S) with that thing. Often times I get to the station after the engine leaves, so I'm in the truck by myself, trying to shift, work the siren, and work the radio at the same time. Horrible.

Great looking car Wink. Did you run the lightbar cable down the pillar to save from drilling a hole or was that the way they were installed back it the day?

+1 Our F550 mini pumper with a 6.0L is the same way. I saw a special on tv about CHP when they got Mustangs like these. It said all the officers had to get additional training so they wouldn't crash shifting and working everything at the same time.

Nice car, I love clear LP's with colored filters.

What MPH RADAR is that. I thought a K-55 was big and ate some dashboard.

It's an S-80 X-band. The K-55's did eat up a lot of dash.

Yup, most of Missouri's Mustangs had the 5-speed. I think it would have been a blast to drive on-duty!

The Missouri State Patrol runs the cable along the windshield on all their installs.

It appears that Missouri is trying to get max resale value on their vehicles, the only antenna that I see actually mounted through the body is the lowband ball whip. Everything else looks like a lip-mount or glass-mount antenna!

Anyway, awesome looking restore!

Anyway, awesome looking restore! I'm sure that if the police in the UK can shift and run emergency mode, we could probably figure it out over here on the other side of the pond!

The 5 speed is awesome. Ha. All of our trucks on my fire dept are manuals and when you are alone it sucks, but at least its a car and you dont have as much vehicle weight and size. I couldnt imagine a pursuit in that thing though.

We do it all the time over here. Auto transmissions are the exception rather than the rule.

I seem to remember one state agency that had a policy that their Mustangs were not to be run in the rain, too many guys were spinning them.

I pretty sure that they had mics mounted in the headliner with a PTT switch on the shifter.

I thought your name looked familiar. I was at Don's the day before you bought the 89 looking at his collection and looking over the 89 FHP car. I wish I had half the parts he had collected over the years. I plan to get my 89 FHP back from SVOPaul in the spring.

interesting tidbit: CHP offered their ssp car equipped troopers special training courses to deal with the radio and shifting and lights and shifting and sirens and shifting and shifting and shifting.
