Couldnt they simply use a small blue led beacon?, I mean, but a Mini-Liberty? |

They could do that, but then they'd have to think of a new way to burn money. |

| Yeah, this was posted several years ago. I believe it was determined that it's used as a crime deterrent. |

The newest Big Brother cameras in Chicago have a smaller, less obtrusive LED system on top. They also are a much smaller enclosure. Some of the new ones have \"gun shot detectors\" that automatically slew the camera in the direction of the sound of any gunfire.

I see them a lot in N. Philly (hmm...wonder why, there's never any crime there ), especially right near Temple Hospital. I've always wondered why they spend the money for a mini-Liberty too..... |

| They have them all over Baltimore City (Body-more Murderland). Its kinda funny because they have better equipment mounted on those cameras then they do on their cop cars! |

GREAT show! (from The Wire)
We have a member at Laurel who lives in Baltimore, I always give him a hard time about him claiming that violent crime being down in Baltimore. |
