After not being able to find a decent deal on a used D8 I decided to move a few TIR3's that I had installed in less effective locations and add a few more that were laying around in the garage.

I installed 8 TIR3's along the lip of the tool box. As you can see, there are also 2 installed high around the 3rd brake light and LIN4's installed on the sides.

I was initally thinking about settting them all to steady burn and getting an independent flasher, but I think I am going to leave it as is. I do not need directional patterns and I have always been a fan of out of sync random type patterns.

I think it came out pretty good.

No, not really.

Law states illegal to the front. I only have it to the rear. Also, I don't run them in Shelby County unless I drive up on something and am trying to not get run over. I have never ever had any LEO even ask about them.

As far as video goes, no recorder. If something presents itself I will get video.

Well that's certainly a new excuse...

Plus, I found this:

Perhpas TeneCJohn or TNYankee can interject some LEO wisdom?

That looks sharp, on and off. But tisk tisk on the white and blue, white to the rear, not a fan, and not so sure on the legalities of blue. Go red and amber that would look really good.

That looks really nice! So, when you lift the lid to the tool box, are the lights at an angle...are they mounted to the lid? That would look way cool!!! Cool

I am sticking with warm and fuzzy, but hey.....thanks for alerting all of the Tennessee law enforcement community to be looking to give me a hard time! Very Happy

Or, here is my suggestion. Pull the blues off and avoid the hassle all together.

Yeah, that is my intent but like I said, I just kinda threw some stuff together.

I am sure my quests will find me some more red and amber's so the white and maybe the blue's can be swapped out.

Yes, they are mounted to the lid so if you open the box they are pointed skyward.

A.) Nice Install. Clever
B.) I think it is excessive
C.) I don't see any point to mounting them to the lid (I see you don't have anywhere else to mount them). It defeats the purpose of having them if your tool box is open and they'll block the TIR3's on the 3rd BL. Taking away all of your rear lighting.
D.) I think you would have been better off putting two on the rear license plates and then putting a custom bar in the rear windshield.

Maybe the blue??? What are you smokin?

You seem very willing to remove the legal clear LEDs but not willing to remove the illegal blue LEDs. This is beyond my understanding.

I posted to show some of you an install idea - not to seek elightbar forum approval, receive legal advice, or notification of local authorities.

just curious. Why did you decide to mount the TIR3's on the exterior of the 3BL? You know you can fit them on in the insides of the cargo light for a stealthier look. There's an install around here somewhere where some one did that. It looks very slick.

I'll gladly lock the thread. What I don't understand why you come on a forum of public safety personnel (this includes law enforcement officials, ya know, cops, poh-leece, fuzz, five-0, pigs, coppers, bacon) and publicly display photographs of your illegal blue lighting on your personal vehicle and then whine when someone calls you out on it.

If you went inside a police station smoking a doobie would you whine after you got arrested? Probably so.

Thread locked.
