|
|
Tried the search - no results.
I have 2 Axixtech Hawk-I IIs. The wires are cut about 12\" out. I want to splice new cigarette plug wires to these cut wires. I have a 50/50 chance of making a wrong hook up. I don't want to damage anything. How do I tell which wire is Positive & which wire is Negative?
TIA,
Terry |

| I believe smooth with lettering is positive, banded is negative. |

| the best way i have \"bench tested\" without using a lot of juice and possibly messing somethig up, try a 9v battery. It wont be full brightness, but it should give you the smallest light so that you can tell which is correct. If thats not enough jucie for that light, cause some led's require more, duracell makes a small battery that is 12v.... number 21/23 and that definatly works on ALL led's to at least fire them a little bit so you can tell what is positive and what's negative. Those batteries are great... they last for quite a while for such a tiny battery, and you can find them at any hardware store, or where ever they have more then just your usual batteries. Hope this help you out |

My question has been answered. Thank you for the replies!
The lead-in wires are Siamesed. One wire is smooth - with lettering and one wire has a raised band running the length od the wire.
As RyanS noted above, the smooth w/lettering wire is Positive (+) and the wire with the raised band is Negative.
As an aside, a Brooking Ind. tech told me that the Hawk IIs are polarity protected. |

| The polarity protection built into these lights was also confirmed by andy@fireoutfitters. Thanks again! |
