Very...interesting. Could've probably built a rack track and mounted them all on the roof for a cleaner look...but this is impressive, nonetheless. |

| I think it looks pretty neat. The inside was messy, there are a lot of good consoles to make things flush and neat. |

| Very, very slick. A1. The whole vehicle is, not only the install. |

| I like it but, there's something about the levelness of the lightheads that bugs me. |

I'll agree with that, sweet idea though. I'll also take the license plate. |

| I think it's a good idea and well executed for a first try. I personally think it is a little too bulky. If it could be slimmed down and be a little more streamlined, I could see that being a quickly adapting install. |

Hope this response actually posts. It took me 5 attempts to make the first post and this will be the fourth trying to respond. I keep getting General Error messages.
The vehicle is a Kansas Highway Patrol 08 Tahoe pursuit package. KHP assigns vehicles permanently to a Trooper- the license tag (yes, 69) is the Troopers badge/radio number.
I didn't have anything to do with building it but am impressed with what Whelen came up with. The LINZ6 are very bright and the pod fits on the Tahoe really well. KHP asked Whelen to develop a rear arrow type light for the Tahoe that would be mounted on the exterior and this is what they came up with.
As for the console questions. The basic wood consoles for KHP are made by prison industries for about $20 each. They looked at commercial consoles but realized that since they do not have standardized equipment (radios, switch panels, sirens, scanners etc) they would have to stock multiple faceplates. In addition, the vehicles are normally customized by each Trooper depending on where they work- such as extra radios to communicate with local agencies. The basic console they have allows them to customize without destroying or drilling into a metal console.
An example in this Tahoe- the laptop and mount you see in the vehicle are non-standard and were put in by the Trooper. |

| You would think Whelen could have the light heads recessed, instead of surface mounting them to the extrusion. They look like they could get knocked off easily. |
