A friend of mine has a Carson siren, model SC-1000 that he keeps blowing speakers with. (2 so far) He had a BP100 conected for awhile with no problems, the speaker blew while he was running to a call. He then put a Dynamax in his truck. The first call he made it half way to the station and it blew. He wants to figure out what is wrong before he hooks up another speaker.
Any ideas what the problem could be? Would a short in the speaker wire cause this? Where do we start looking?

Thanks
Eric

some of the carson sirens will do 200 watts is he pushing 200 through 1 speaker?

we had a carson siren on our old rescue unit, it blew 1 of the 2 cpi speakers it had, I have had good luck w/ the CPI units but thee rescue was a 91 so we got lots of use out of it before it croaked

I recall hearing something about this years ago, that the Carson sirens were somewhat notorious for blowing speakers. Can anyone confirm this rumor? Shame, they sound great.

They guy that had the siren before him never had any problems. And he ran it for a while. I have a feeling it is in the wiring. I like the Carson mechanical tone.
