With the recent increase in LED output are Strobe lightheads still a viable option?
Only Output opinions please, |

| I still say they do. I especially like those Freedom-type bars with strobe corners with LED inners. Yes, the strobes aren't as bright as the Inner modules, but they have the \"snap\" in the flashes that LED's just can't provide and are rather eye catching. |

Sure. They are still good options. They are just as bright as they've always been. |

| Are you talking about directional lightheads or 360 degree lightheads? For directional purposes I think LED's come out on top, but for 360 degree lightheads I think strobe still has the edge. |

Strobes are brighter, no question about it, but strobes have a much shorter on-time because of the large power and voltage requirements. LEDs can appear just as bright or brighter because they have a longer on-time.
Combined with other advantages (true color, low power draw, low heat, reliability), LEDs are usually the best option, but there are some circumstances to go with strobes (want the heat to melt snow, want the ability to easily & cheaply change colors, use inside a broad spectrum tuned reflector).
