I bought an Icom F-121 mobile radio for my car.. haven't bought the software or programming cable for it yet, but hoping to soon.. for those who program radios, how hard is it and has anyone programmed the F-121 before?
Thanks! |

| If you're just going to be programming that one, I would see how much the radio shops in your area charge. Sometimes it's just cheaper and easier to let them do it... |

My best piece of advice is to make sure you have permission for any transmit channels you are going to have in the radio. I see so many people come in with radios that want frequencies put in that they aren't authorized to have and when we tell them we won't program them, they go and buy the software and a cable to do it themselves. |

I completely understand that and I don't blame you.. but the guy I had program my portable radio gave me all the frequencies I wanted, however some of the frequencies I needed to be able to transmit on (ex. some of our fireground/mabas channels) he had the transmit feature disabled on so really screwed me when I needed it for an incident I was working on.. so really been trying to stay away from having some local programmer do it for me. |
