I bought a Little Walther P22LR Pistol I liked the feel of it in my hands, But I never owned a 22LR. I didnt realize how small the Bullets were
I bought this for Racoon killing We get a lot at night And its easier that geting the rifle out of the trunk..
Anyway Also thought this might be a good little weapon for the Misses, Since Im gone alot..
What are your thoughts on this, will it be sutibale for the misses in home self defense |

Well my new home defence weapon is below.....ohh how sweet she is
The P22 is a really nice pistol. I have one myself, however, if you have not shot it yet it is one loud little SOB!! so you better have some muffs near by. All in all it's a good gun and as with all .22lr it's fairly cheap to shoot. As far as home defence anything is better then nothing but I'm going to grab the above or my XD40 first |

| I had for awhile a Beretta Neo and that thing was pretty quite, big difference between the 2 in sound and obivously size but both were fun just whatever you want or need it for. If you don't care about the conceal aspect of it the Neo is pretty quiet |

| That is a great pistol for target practice. I don't think I would choose anything in .22LR for home defense though. Not enough stopping power (just my opinion). It will kill someone, but you don't want 'em to live long enough to retaliate! Like you said though \"anything's better than nothing\". |

Here's my new baby!! Only difference is mine is the 3.33\" barrel...easier for me to conceal. I also have a Glock 23 which I love!! But I have been playing with these Taurus models here lately and decided to try one out!!!

| O...and WPD...as for your choice...IMO, you can never go wrong with a Walther product. They make excellent guns. If your other half does carry it, it would be a ok size for her to carry easy enough in a purse or such. But yeah....Walthers are nice!! |

Go 380. That would be my choice on the lowest for home defense. Still packs a punch for its size....and still easy concealable.... |

not a bad gun to get, walther makes excellent firearms and plus the .22lr isnt that expensive to shoot. as far as home defense, my choice is my taurus .38 snubnose and a remington 870, for some reason the sound a shotgun shell being racked is a universal sound that strikes fear in many, plus it will knock a man out of his boots at 7 feet. as far as using a .223 round for home defense... ...thats just silly. |

| I have two Bersa 380's I also have the 870 and mossburg 500 shotguns, but the misses Hates guns, So I thought this 22 would scare someone enough if they decided to get into the house ( gun shot or sight of gun) until the police decided to arrive. |

| We always used pellet guns when I was a kid to pick off the racoons. But for something small to use and as a handgun for your misses, who doesn't like guns, that a .22 should be fine. It's cheap to fire, and doesn't offer much recoil, if any. I agree that it doesn't pack much of a punch for home protection, but a .22 handgun is much better than nothing. My choice for home protection is my Smith & Wesson M&P 40. I fired a friend's M&P 9mm, liked it, and at the time S&W had some good rebates and 2 free mags. I had wanted a SigSauer P220, but I couldn't afford the Sig. |

Any evidence that the sound of a shotgun being racked will turn a felon's knees to jelly and make them soil themselves in terror is purely anecdotal. Prematurely charging the chamber also increases the possibility of a ND, makes the Remington 870 non-dropsafe, and will require the user to download before any dynamic movement, something which most untrained shotgunners do not know how to do correctly.
The 5.56/.223 is a better home defense round than a shotgun round because with frangible bullets it will break up and penetrate walls and structures much less than than shotgun rounds, shot or slugs. It typically recoils less and the M4 style stock allows shorter-statured shooters a better fit to the gun. |

The 22 would get her by, but a 380 would be sufficient. Hopefully it never comes to ever having to use it but if it did then she would want it to count and no tells be told after effect especially in this day and time.
There was a lady years ago I had read in a article had a burglar broke in on her and she cut him with a steak knife in defense and scared for her life living home alone, the badguy he made a lawsuit and won the darn thing against her for her inflicting deadly wounds to him. Too bad she didnt have a 357 or something and blowed his a** away.
Its bad when courts will uphold the enemies anymore. |
