this is a real touchy subject for me and other HORSEHEADS fd members so i hope everyone says a prayer for the family:
on wednesday morning the horseheads volunteer fire department lost one hell of a good man, dick sullivan (known as 1001) passed away at his home, Mr. Sullivan was a chief for HFD for 27 of his 38 years working for HFD, I personally knew dick a little from working with the elmira heights VFD at an MVA and he seemed to be an outgoing guy always friendly. Dick also worked for erway ambulance in Elmira ny (where i'm from) for about the same time he was at HFD. REST IN PEACE DICK YOU WILL BE MISSED BY EVERYONE WHO KNEW YOU AND THOSE WHO DIDN'T
ANYONE WISHING TO SEND ANYTHING CAN DO SO TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS:

| I am so sorry to hear the sad news. Its always tough when a member of a department (fire, police, EMS) passes. You all become one big family. I remember when the local police chief of the town I used to live in passed from Colon Cancer. I was close with him and looked up to him as a kid. Any question I had, he would always let me go to his office. I told him I wanted to get on his department before he retired. Sadly it didnt happen. What was the cause of death? My prayers go out to you and your department. |
