I work security, I got called into work early last night because there was a double homicide in the college apartment complex that I work at. We have about 10 properties around the campus, I just happened to be scheduled at this one last night. Got on scene, about 150 people standing around. Everyone dispersed for the most part after the Newsie's did their live broadcast, except for a small group which I kindly asked to step across the street. One guy said \"I've been standing here since 5 oclock, i deserve to see bodies!\" I exchanged a few not-very-nice words with him and they made their way on. I can't believe the disrespect some people have. Anyway, I'm getting first hand experience on the inner workings of the REAL police in a homicide investigation. In PD interviews I've always been asked the question \"can you handle knowing things that you can't tell anybody, even you're wife or girlfriend?\" I always answer yes, and tonight I got REAL experience on exactly how hard it can be. I was receiving phone calls non-stop from friends wanting to know what was going on, and I just can't tell anyone. The story was on the news, but no names have been released. I know all the names of the victims, it's hard. Appears the suspect didn't pre-meditate, but the 2 female victims just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I will keep everyone posted as the story develops. Crowd control was HELL!

At this time, the story is on the main page of this link:

What's hard about not being able to give names out? We have to withhold names all day on rescue calls. I don't see what is so difficult about it. Are you new to the field?

people have no respect anymore. When I was an officer we were called to a house where a male had called 911 reporting he just killed his wife then hung up. House was surrounded, SWAT attempted contact and eventually made entry. Inside they found the wife dead on the couch and the husband dead on his bed by a self inflicted gunshot wound. Turns out the husband worked for the sheriffs dept as a corrections officer and had been accused of having sex with inmates (a crime here in WA). The husband was to be arrested that day. So a few hours later I foolishly volunteer to bring a generator and light out to the scene. I get there thinking ill drop it off and be done. Nope they assign me to help the coroner. as Im helping the coroner take the bodies out to the van I notice the news crews are right at the tape and are practically breaking the tape to get a better view of the bodies. Out of all the footage that the news crews took, the only footage that made it on the news was us taking the bodies out Rolling Eyes . Not the most decent thing to do but I guess decency is going down the crapper.

It's not hard, i guess. It's more strange. It's strange to be on this end of the news, knowing things that other people don't or can't know. It's something I will get used to, and will get used to working in a police job when that time comes.

Just a follow up here. Molly Edmondson, and her cousin Katrina Hill were found stabbed to death by Kat's father when she did not show up for a family function. Suspect Kyle Marin turned himself in to the Linn County Jail at 7pm on the night the bodies were discovered. Both girls died from blood loss after Kyle attacked them both with a knife and a hammer. Both girls had many stab wounds to the chest, pelvis, stomach. Kat had a penetrating brain wound.

Kyle is being held in the Linn County Jail on 1 million dollar bond per charge, with 2 charges.

I knew Molly, and Kyle. Kyle was a wierd guy but always very respectful to me when I had to deal with him at work. Molly was, just Molly. beautiful wonderful, always smiling girl. I attended a vigil for them both on Tuesday night, it was wonderful. Over 400 people there, mostly students, many who did not even know either girl. We completely overflowed into the streets. Molly was laid to rest yesterday, Katrina will be laid to rest today, in 7 hours.

I know I couldn't have done anything to stop this, but I keep thinking that I wish I was the guard assigned to work the property they were killed on that night. Just maybe, maybe I would have seen the guy leaving the apatrment all bloody and would have had time to call someone to save at least one of them. I suppose the way things happened are the way it was supposed to happen, and you can't be a hero after the fact. All it would have taken is one of our guys to be at that exact building out of 20 buildings during the 10 seconds it took him to leave the apartment and drive away.

RIP Molly and Kat. You will be missed.
