I have two Ranger LL300 Strobe bars, the one amber that JDuke has and a red one I bought at an auction. I also have two of the ones JDuke posted, Ranger XLR (amber street hawk looking) bars in blue, but the lenses are trashed. I need to find domes for them all just to have them and to fix the blue bars. I will take pictures of the amber Ranger LL300 later, but here are the others. I also have a LL dual strobe power supply, then some other misc stuff I forget what it is. The push bars are a dime a dozen around here, but they are always still on cars. In fact I should have taken a picture of it, the auction I was at on Saturday there was a LL push bar for a CV/Caprice on a F-150 pickup. It looked terrible and was even dented. There is a city of Dallas auction coming up, allot of LL push bars on those cars.

If you look at the two lightbars you will see two different addresses, I do not know the details of that as I moved to Texas in 1998. Maybe HILO would know the history of Lectric Lites. I think then sold out in or around 1998 as I think I have seen 98+ Dallas cars with Lectric Lite decals. After Code 3 bought them the push bars still had "LL" on the side, but Code 3 label. Then soon after Code 3 changed the mold and removed the "LL", they also modified it to have one mold for left and right. The original mold was two, one for left and other for right that was much better. As for the lights, looks like the strobe Pimpala03 posted may be the only left over. The bars were good ideas, but not very good looking. I wish I knew more about the company, but never really gave it much thought until about 2002 after it was long gone. I heard the founder got ill and passed away shortly after it was sold.

If you Google street view the addresses, you will see the buildings are unknown to be formally Lectic Lites company.

Address:
5600 Midway Rd
Haltom City, TX 76117
(lists as Fort Worth on bar)

2504 W Vickery Blvd
Fort Worth, TX 76102

This Ranger Strobe LL300

[/list]

Great company, I always look for Lectic Lites stuff at the auctions and sometimes find it. I just wish the Ranger bars have good domes, cause they would have been great for my collection.

LOL to grfd711

If it was legal in Texas to have red I would maybe do it, but the car is a reseller. The amber has holes in it so that would not work well when it rains.

It was already replaced when I got it, guess bu the guy you sold it too. I was going to put it on the red bar since the amber lenses are no good.

I did it! I finally have a LL product.

As promised, here is an LL mini bar I picked up on eBay recently. It is in super nice shape and works nicely. The original (I think) cord is still intact was well as the cigar plug. It has 4 magnets and an amber dome that is perfect, just a little dusty as seen in the photos. I will attempt to clean it. The bar is a Lectric Lites Mini-Bar XMB. Model number is XMBS-A. I have never even heard of one of these. I hope it's a genuine original, not a newer version of a company that bought out LL because it's in superb shape. I was very happy with this buy at only $36 dollars shipped.

Best of all, it looks right at home on The Camel... now if only I could find a red dome!!!!

I got around to opening up the minibar and I was shocked at how immaculate it was on the inside. Also, this thing draws less than 4 amps! It's more efficient than a FireBeam!!!!

Does anyone know how to change the pattern?

My dad retired from the Cleburne Police Department whick is about 30 miles south of Fort Worth. As a kid, i remember that they used these old LL lightbars on their old 80's model Dodge Diplomats and Plymouth Fury's. They had the LL300's and then the sargeants and leiutenants got the slant LL bars on their cars. All their units had Federal interceptor sirens. Seems like there were a couple of Yankee Dietz bars thrown in there too. They replaced the LL300 and slants with the more modern LecricLites bar that looked like a smith and wesson bar. There was one on a firetruck at a local department right down the road and they just removed it from service. Anyone know where you can get red/blue replacement lenses at??

Anyways, thanks for the trip down memory..

Chad

Most mini strobe bars like that had a fixed pattern. In fact, i can't remember anyone making a strobe bar with selectable patterns back when LL was in it's prime.

Yes sir. I was like that except it had strobes to the front, flashers to the rear, rotators on the end, and only one take down on the front (in the blue lens. Anyone have domes like that anymore??

That is the exact same Ranger XL I have posted above, but all blue lenses as these came from some DFW city. As for the lenses near impossible to find as this company sold out to Code 3 around 1998.

Look closely at the lightbar on these Dodge pickups, I am going to go to the inspection next Monday.

Good thread!

I bid on this on eBay not long ago but, got outbid, saved the pictures since I'd never seen one before. I believe it must be some sort of industrial application.

Lectric Lites are like MARS items... Bid first, ask questions later since they are sought after. I wish I could find one of the LL Ranger strobe bars. Those things are pretty cool to me. I think you bought the last one from the Mike.

I have seen those on My-Jack container cranes at the local UPS Train platform...They are not too visible during the day.

Video of the amber bar isn't a problem, give me a few days. Also, I bought one of the red/blue Ranger bars as pictured above so whenever I get it, videos won't be a problem. If you run in to any more LL stuff, give me a shout!

I kinda like the look of the bars with the strobe beacons outboard and flashers in. I was curious as to adding maybe PAR 36 strobes to where the flashers are aand turning it into an all strobe bar. What do you all think
