Okay... so I started on my 07 Impala.

Hit a brick wall out the door.... almost literally.... she said NO NEW LIGHTS... You better use EVERYTHING that you took off of your Vic....

So... I started working outside of the box.....

I had new goodies to go in my CVPI before it died. So they never got installed in ford. Removed the old rear bar off of the \"standard\" deck mount bracket.

Had to modify it to work- and used the child harness latches that are mounted in the car since the deck in the Impala isn't very friendly.

My steps of modifying the bracket and installing the arrow stick are below. Then I hit another wall.... (See below)....

Step1 Remove cover off of safety latch...

Step 2 Find mounting bracket- Realize it ain't gonna work....

Step 3 Have son modify bracket with light saber

Step 4 Modified bracket (Rubber mallet)

Step 5-8 Mount bracket and return seat latch cover

Step 9 Mount equpment bar

Step 10 Step back and say Wow- the guys on ELB will like this....

Now I've hit a wall... I wanted to go Strobe and LED in teh back window, and am modifing (or was attempting to) the LED housing that went on both sides of the FORD 3rd hand brake light housing... I wanted it to go on the roof liner.... no dice.... The strobes are hitting the back glass... It's really tight...

I need suggestions...

Thanks guys....

Mike

Whatever you do, take that SignalMaster apart and paint it all black! Maybe even grab some clear lenses for the 8 heads... ?

I painted the back housing black, but left the front silver- as I started to take it apart it got more and more flimsy.

No dice on changing out to clear lenses- they are a one piece housing- or clear would have been the order of the day! Wink

Should I just go with the pair of LED's that I have back there, or do I take another stap at putting the LEDs on the headliner?

Keep the Par36 Strobes? Remove them?

Ditto here. Too large, and it looks cluttered.

I'd ditch the par 36's. I do like them, considering you can get side warning if mounted outside, and they do have their place on different vehicles, but on top of that arrowstick, looking too cluttered. Stick with the LEDs you've got, and consider doing the HAWs. May be able to sell the par 36s and fund the purchase of some used HAWs to keep from angering the wife.

No offense...but I don't like that look in a 2007 imp. I say sell what you got and go all LED, it will look cleaner and more low profile. If you can't do that, i say lose the par 36.

I've been \"eyeing\" those child seat mounts on my '07 for possible use. I like the par 36's, but not with the traffic director. Got to stick with all rectangles to keep it symmetrical.
My old set up on the '03:

side self contained strobes are red ps & amber ds. I'll be ordering a red lense as soon as I can find one.

I think the lights on the side kind of look out of place.

or trade it off for something slimmer. You could probalby convince your woman of that, couldn't you? That really the only reason you're getting a 'new' light is that you're replacing the big bulky ugly orange one with a slim clear one so the car looks better

make sure to mention not wanting to get hit by a car. That actually happened last night. Our FD ran a car vs. pedestrian on the highway last night because the woman was waiting for a tow truck in snowy weather. Jeep lost control, swerved off the side of the highway and hit the woman. Had there been someone with lights to protect the scene and slow people down, the woman wouldn't be in the ICU

Keep the signalmaster, they work alot better then just a pair of led on scene. Put the pair of leds on the headliner, so they dont blend in with the signalmaster. Change the sides to maybe to led and tint the whole thing. Nice ride though.
