I've had fantastic results using a PA in stopped traffic on a freeway. A simple "Move to the Right" or "Clear the Centerline" works wonders.

We have to deal with some 3-4 lane one-way roads when we get closer to some of our hospitals.... PA works great to give simple directions when drivers freeze & don't know what to do when stopped at red lights... |

Statistically, the most common use of the PA is to yell "FREEZE, THIS IS THE F.B.I.!" while parked in the station parking lot. I doubt if anyone on this board has failed to do it at least once, hence it's the most COMMON use. |

Nope I can honestly say I have never done that, nor had the urge. |

Well........
When working at the PD, there has been the occaisional Sheep's "B-A-A-A-A-A-A" when passing another car on a traffic stop... especially when the other officer is standing at the drivers window..... |

| I use it occasionally on people who are not paying attention to L&S. They tune out the sirens but seem to come to real quick when they hear "PULL TO THE RIGHT" come blaring out. |

For those of you who don't get the secret list, the translation of the YouTube video from the first post is:
"Stop and please wait. Let the emergency vehicle pass by." |

I use the PA mic for intermittent yelp or piercer. Muffle the mic by holding it against your leg, press the PA button. Switch to yelp or piercer (Whelen siren). When you want to make some noise at an intersection, you can release and press the mic button. Works well.
It also works well for blasting the A-Team theme song. |

I have only used mine to give instructions to traffic violators ("pull out of the intersection and turn right at the next driveway") or for crowd control ("leave the area or you're all going to jail"). Otherwise we use it to terrorize the "urban wildlife".
The dogs love it. I swear. |
