How to use the Forum's New Features

You can easily embed photos and videos using the buttons shown below. Clicking the picture button (left) will prompt you to select images from your computer or enter a URL of pictures already on the web.

Clicking the video button (right) will prompt you to paste the URL of your existing video from some of the more popular video sites like YouTube.

That's it, no more special codes for supported videos. Once you correctly enter the URL of your video, it will be embedded in your post and ready to be viewed by fellow forum members.

Here, you can attach your images by clicking the paperclip icon as shown below:

A screen will pop-up that will allow you to manage ALL of your existing attachments as well as add new ones. Once uploaded, you simply select the ones you want to show in the post and drag them to the bottom of the screen, then click "Insert Inline" and the pics will appear in your post.

You now have the ability to embed Google Maps into your posts. You can enter a landmark or a an address.

To automatically embed the BBCode, click the button.

The first example shows a single point on a Google Map:
Here is the code used: [MAP]Whelen Engineering, Chester[/MAP]

The second example shows a route from point to point:
Here is the code used: [MAP]New York, NY to Newark, NJ[/MAP]

    Embed Google Street View

You can now embed Google Street Views into your posts.

To use it, click the button and paste the Street View link code (found on Google Maps as pictured below) between the tags:

When the steps above are followed, this will be the result:

The BBCode will look like this:

    [STREET]http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=whelen&sll=37 .0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.033113,113.818359&ie=UTF8&hq=whe len&hnear=&ll=15.538376,-89.296875&spn=55.300212,147.304688&t=h&z=4&layer=c &cbll=41.387804,-72.507637&panoid=nAqZCQUAkndQDV-BjYUyZw&cbp=12,80.91,,0,4.49[/STREET]

    Embed PDF Files

You can now embed PDF documents in your posts. Please keep in mind that larger PDF files can take a while to load. Also, some sites prevent hotlinking to their files, which would prevent the file from loading within your post.

To use this, click the button and paste the URL of the document between the tags.

Here is the code used: [PDF]http://www.whelen.com/install/140/14084.pdf[/PDF]

You can now embed eBay listings in your posts.

To use this feature, click the button and insert the eBay item number between the tags.

Here is the code used: [EBAY]230560857199[/EBAY]

Once the auction expires, you will still be able to see the listing for a few weeks, then it will default to a search box for lightbars (a predefined search keyword).

Apparently that isn't supported in the base version... I'm looking for a mod to enable it.

    Thank you, John.
I thought it was something I was doing wrong. I had the Icon everywhere else but the PMs.
I think I'm getting the hang of this new setup.
Thanks for all your hard work,

Go ahead and try to post your videos again, and let me know if it doesn't work. Leave the links in there if it doesn't work so I can troubleshoot it.

We've added some new menus that will help members find the most updated classified ads, both For Sale/Trade and Wanted.

All you need to do is click the "What's New" button in the navbar and then use the menu corresponding to what you are looking for. This will show you the most recently updated ads since your last visit.

We've added "a few" more smilies (and replaced the old ones) for use in all content in which BBCODE can be used.

And I, for one, absolutely hate it. Can we just hide the smilies? Not sure if you changed something else or not but, once you added the metric shit-ton of smilies, I can no longer change the font size AND color on the quick reply. I'm probably the only one who uses the font color and size change but, I'd rather have it over the smilies in the quick reply ANY DAY. I bet you will find that the majority will not use the smilies and most will find them annoying, staring at them while they type a reply.

I don't mean this near as harsh as it's going to come across.

Well, the smilies have nothing to do with the font size thing, I will have look into that. We did, however, remove some of the bigger font sizes. As of now, there are only 4 font sizes available. As for the colors, they still work.

Now onto the smilies... I don't necessarily need to display as many smilies, but I am still trying to get feedback and tweak stuff.

Ya know, you "say" you don't mean to sound harsh... but with that Stewie avatar, you sound SUPER pissed...

We ended up disabling quick reply due to multiple issues... read more here:

    http://www.elightbars.org/showthread...27-Quick-reply

The number of smiley icons shown before you have to click "more" has been lowered too... so there are less showing on the reply page.
