New feedback system to replace feedback forums

There is a new profile linked feedback system up and running now.

    To leave feedback...

1- find the thread you bought the item from
2-click on the feedback icon at the bottom left
3-fill out the form with as much info as possible
    4-submit

The feedback will be linked to the person's profile. You can look up someone's feedback by clicking on their profile or by using the feedback tab at the top of the screen.

The feedback forums will be left as read only. I will post detailed info about negatives on the neg board as needed.

I would like someone to volunteer to go through the feedback board and enter the existing feedback into this system.... that will be a job.

So, sellers can't leave feedback for buyers? Do I understand that correctly?

Sellers CAN leave feedback for buyers. They can click on the buyers profile, select the feedback tab and enter the feedback and a link to the transaction.

I think I got the first one posted!

I don't like how the part that is viewable to only staff and the involved users is REQUIRED. Can this be OPTIONAL?

I'll see if I can do that..... Just type "nothing to add" or something for now until I figure out how to edit it

It appears that I am the author of both the first and last positive feedback threads. What a coincidence!

And I left the first positive for a buyer, left the first positive for a trade, and got the first positive as a seller! Go me!

    Some things I've noticed...

You leave me a feedback and I "reply" to it. I get a (+1) and you get nothing.

In the Feedback page, the captions don't match what I selected. "I was the -- buyer, trade, seller" selection.

I left feedback where was I was the seller, and it says that I left feedback for the trader.
Also, in one I left feedback where I was the trader and it says that I left feedback for the seller.

You also broke the feedback app... You tried to leave too many feedbacks (apparently) I'm sure John will tweak it a bit soon enough.

ok so i was goin tot back log the info for the negative feedback for you....

Since all the negative is all on the old board it doesnt allow you to connect with these current profiles, also i noticed a feedback with no link connections to a sale, trade, want item. so how would this work?

or is it from the newest board point forward?
Well, what's this year got in store?

I'd wait until John takes a look- this is what I am seeing..

The system has determined that Pimp is doing something suspicious related to the Feedback system.

Pimp, stop trying to hack the feedback system!

No, this is related to settings we are still trying to tweak. Please try to leave some more feedback and let me know if it works. The problem is that people are trying catch up and enter a lot of feedback all at once, and the system sees that as suspicious based on a "limit per day" setting. I've moved that number up to 25, which should be more than enough.

John I have to disagree with this name.

Suppose you have a good rep on here and some dickbag wants to screw you over and post negative feedback. Should people "beware" and steer clear of you?

I dunno man, I just think it may send a wrong message or someone may get the wrong idea about someone else.

Like if they have a 'wanted' item and you reply to it? There's the feedback option there too. People will just have to be sure to post a wanted thread for something, even if it was talked about thru email, facebook, person, texting, phone...., for the sole reason for feedback to be left.

Thinking about it more, I probably won't actually rename the neg board.. and since it's locked down there isn't any way for anyone to post anything at all. I planned on posting longer descriptions of negatives pulled from the feedback system there myself. So it will be more of a "detailed neg feedback log" than a buyer beware.

Technically you don't have to make a wanted ad. You can just click on someone's profile and generate a new feedback thread w/o refrencing a post.... I'd prefer you didn't do that, but you can if there wasn't a post to link.

Really?? I have been talking about integrating the feedback with the profiles for years. I wish people would read the attached explainations and take some time to explore features before flipping out over changes. The feedback "thing" was changed to simplify it. Now you can simply glance at a seller's profile and see their feedback instead of searching the feedback board often unsuccessfully. Believe it or not I don't just make random arbitrary changes for the sake of making them.

For example, lets say you don't know who I am and you are thinking of trading with me.

Under the current system you have to go to advanced search, select "search only" the pos, neg and neut forums and search for my name. If you or the person who left the feedback doesn't spell or format my name the exact same way, nothing comes up. Plus you'll have to sort through the 100 posts that I have made for other people.

Under the new system you can either look at my feedback score by looking under my avatar right in the post, or view my entire history by clicking on my profile.

Also I have explained above how to generate a feedback for something that doesn't have a thread. You can do so easily by simply clicking on their feedback profile and "adding new feedback". I would prefer you try to click on the links in the for sale and wanted forums to generate the feedback, but there are going to be cases where you can't do this. Just like I do now, I will be reviewing all negative feedback posted.

Personally, I think it would be best if you only include feedback since the forum was via PHP boards.....

It should be noted that, (it appears) the correct way to "reply" to a feedback you receive is to open that feedback (you get a PM notification by default) and look for this button (). When you hover over it - it will say "Submit Rating For This Deal".

It should not be done by going to the other party and leaving a feedback if the other party has already initiated one for you.

If you have already replied, it will be ghosted () and you won't be able to click on it. This, of course, means that both parties have left feedback for that deal.

John, if I have this correct, could we maybe include this in the main post or in the "How to leave feedback" thread?

Another thing I just noticed that you might want to direct some immediate attention to:

When a user recieves their PM notification of a new feedback, the URL is invalid. It has '90' where 'elightbars.org' should be. Might want to check your coding.

    Mine has: http://90/itrader.php?u=11
