On Internet forums like this, when someone posts a lot of images in a row, it can quickly be a nightmare scrolling past the same images over and over as people quote the post. It might be useful to keep images from showing up in a quote, but sometimes it can be handy to be able to have a particular image in a quote so the poster can comment on it.
One thing I've seen other forums do, but not many, is to shrink an image to a much smaller size, like a maximum of 100 pixels wide maybe, as a thumbnail when the post is quoted, or when the poster wants to post an image that is too big to easily show up on the screen (although that last bit has been solved, so big images show up on screen at a reasonable size regardless of their original size). The tags used to do this are [TIMG] (image URL) [/TIMG], for "thumbnail image," and all [img] tags are changed to [timg] tags in quotes automatically. That way, if someone puts a whole lot of images, subsequent posts can have some or all of the images in the quote without it being a total nightmare to try to scroll past dozens of full-size images. If someone wants to see a full-size version of one of these thumbnails, all they have to do is click on it and it'll show up full size.
Thoughts, comments, concerns, flame wars? Whaddya think?
