Elmira, NY743 Postslightbar refurbishing question---pics added
didnt know whether to put this in here or tips and tricks, but here goes the question
Today I received my white base firehawk and the bases are more yellow than white.
My question is this:
Would it be safe to use chlorox bleach on them to remove the yellow, or would water and dish soap be a better (and probaly safer) alternative??Last edited by EHFD_Tower_751; July 20th, 2012 at 05:52 PM.

I'd start with soap/water. Or try bacon soda before using the bleach. I don't see the bleach (diluted) doing damage, but, been wrong before.

Some yellowing is not going to go away no matter what you do.... but you can improve them dramatically. There is a thread on this in the tips section. Please note that that section has different rules that should be read over before posting.

Chad, the outside of the StreetHawk pods have a texture to them.
I have had great luck with Westley's Bleche-Wite Tire Cleaner and a plastic brush (tooth brush or bigger).
Just make sure you rinse the crap out of the pod with soap and water afterwards.
If you don't believe me, try a small section inside the pod first.

From what the original seller has told me, it saw service for about 13 14 years, then was left outside in the yard after taken out of service. Im guessing it saw service from the manhattan (IL) PD or FD, due to it having red and blue front and rear flashers.
Maybe the original owner can provide more insight. mls60442 had it before I did.forever on duty............deputy jeffrey alexander R.I.P 06-12-11

Boston, MA450 PostsHonestly I would just get a can of spray on white plasti-dip and just redo it. It will look 100x better. And if you screw it up, just peel it off and try again.
