Lightbulb Ways to strap on a lightbar?

i have a code 3 2100 bar and a 2005 cadillac srx for it to go on. have a panoramic sunroof that opens about 1 1/2" high. ive seen that whelen n code3 have roofrack mounts but mite not wsnt it that high or maybe i would, no idea what they look like. also was wondering if i would be able to use the gutter brackets to strap onto the roof rack bars themselves rather than the frame of my car , since my car seems to not have anything for these straps to hold onto according to whelen n code 3. so im pretty much stumped here. any ideas would be great and pics or anything that would help me choose a way to do this would be appreciated . thanks

Anyways I completely sympathize with your problem as I've had to figure it out to. It's hard to build something that looks decent using nuts and bolts from Lowe's, zipties and pipe straps, all of which I have done before. My advice is to see if you can find a mounting solution using roof mounting accessories from Yakima, Thule, etc. On my Frontier I found I could use the universal Mighty Mounts and move one of the factory crossbars back far enough to perfectly fit my code3 mini-bar well behind my sunroof. It had to be far back because my rear crossbar is fixed in place. I still have more options but it depends on what I want to spend and how creative I can be. Good luck and try to add some pics!

I'll try to take some during National Night Out tomorrow evening. We will be stopping by some block parties in Redmond.

This is how I mounted my lightbars (my old 9622 Edge, and my current Patriot) to my Avalanche... I had a set of Short Whelen mount straps laying around, so I mounted them to the lightbar and measured what I'd need to cut off... Then chopped them and dripped holes in the strap, then through the "U" Channel of my roof rack rails. Bolted it up and presto... Been holding SOLID...

(The rust marks ar from the last set of hardware I had the bar mounted with... Package said they were stainless, obviously, the package lied... LoL)

Can you get some pics of what you are working with so we can understand the problem better?

Maybe mount the straps inverted from their original position... As in, instead of the end of the strap pointing down and getting secured in the top of the door jamb, invert it so the end is pointing upward and have it come under the roof rail...

that roof rack should be strong enough to be able to use threaded pop in zerts they are sorta like a pop rivets but you drill a specific diameter whole in the rack and then these slide in and are poped in with a tool similar to a pop rivet gun and they are threaded on the inside. fabricate the plate you need with the proper height to clear your sunroof and then you can bolt them directly to your existing rack

found a mount that attaches to roof rack that is similar to the one i have. its a whelen roof rack mount for a suzuki grand vitara. it wraps around the frame of the rail and then the feet bolt onto that. now to only find one lol
