Looks like a new and improved Cencom! The product bulletin doesn't open... anyone have anymore information on it?
Thanks,

I just saw this today too, the guys that due my install on my truck told me about it and said it might be worth waiting for.
They need to shrink the thing down a lot, make it more compact.

I have heard from some sources that it has a built in WeCan module for their bars and will have more flash pattern control - much like CanTrol. Also be a bit more compact.
Well they are off to a bad start; As previously noted the product flyer won't open and the install guide links are to the Gold.![]()

I'm surprised they haven't intro gated the ability to choose siren tones like you can with the HHS2200.
The above may be wrong. But not sure yet.

I think he's talking about tones other than the "mechanical", wail, yelp, and priority. More along the lines of warble, a real mechanical sound, woop, etc... http://www.whelen.com/pb/Automotive/...ch_Control.pdf
ah, ok.

Figures. I finally have something that's current technology, and they replace it!
Yep I mean the tones like martian horn, warble, whoop and those other euro tones you can program into the HHS2200.

Link has been fixed.

Really looks like a very nice unit !!!!
I think it would be neat for Whelen to add an led flasher in there, then it could truly be an all in one unit.

I'm surprised as I said in my above post that they haven't given you the option to choose different siren tones. That would of been a big selling point and they would of sold loads of them. I don't see them selling many of these as not many people have WeCan lightbars.
Jim - SireLite
I'm certainly no expert in WeCan, but the FedSig "Convergence Network" protocol is an open, published communications protocol (CANBUS, or very similar). Any company that wants to make a lightbar to plug into the FS CN systems such as the SSP or the PA300-CN can do it. Likewise, if a company wanted to make a light controller that would accept the CN connection from a Legend bar or something, they can do it.
Not sure but I thought the Whelen WeCan was a proprietary protocol, so you're locked into buying WeCan devices if you want to use the direct plug in (unless you want to do the "traditional" wiring methods). Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, it's odd that they have 2 models - 1 for "wecan" style directional arrow, and 1 if you want to use "traditional" wiring. You can't do both in the same unit? Odd.
Cheers

I'm sure they will sell plenty, as the Sapphire replaces the CenCom Gold. Any new installation would benefit from using a WeCan light bar for decreased install time, as well as an increase in functionality.

The CCSRN3 model can control an arrow through a WeCan light bar as well as a two-wire style arrow (Dominator TA, or low current switched light bar arrow). The CCSRNTA3 can do all of the above, plus has the 9 wire traditional arrow module installed (5-8 lamps, halogen or LED). You can save $135 if you're you're not using the last option.

You are describing the CanTrol: Whelen Engineering - Sirens, Switches & Speakers - Switches And Control Boxes
Definatly going to look at this over the gold....I plan to hook this up to a Inner Edge, Dominator Plus (Linz6) & 10 individual Linz6 light heads. Would this add any control over flash patterns? I have a control box for the TA but thats it.
Not directly.... but any of the Cencoms offer momentary switches which can be used/wired to switch patterns. I have a button on mine for pattern selection. Not sure how the wecan will work, but the other features are pretty much the same as the Gold I have.
Seth, this just popped up on Sirennet TV...er, YouTube.
Man once again.. a thread full of conjecture and miss information.
Maybe there should be a rule, if you do not know and have not seen or installed something in person... shhh...

I will try to do that this weekend but it would be even better if people asked specific questions and I can try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. I would rather people have real info about the new product vs. guessing and then making other think they are in the know about something they more than likely have never actually seen or used.
